Chapter 16 : Home

Red and blue lights were flashing all around the place. Police and Shield running around and reporters getting their cameras ready.

Whoever was responsible for all of this had managed to escape.

Tony and Natasha are talking with Shield. Fury is ordering the police to kick out all of the idiots who are filming.

And Madison? Madison was gone.

If you ever felt like your body was just an empty shell, then you might be able to understand a little part of what Adeline was feeling. She didn't know how she should be feeling but she knew that she was angry at herself. She thought that all of this was her fault because she hadn't been able to save her best friend.

She looked up, tears in her eyes, only to see the parents of the girl who died in her arms, clutching their daughter's body which was now covered by a white sheet. Guilt was building up in her throat.

Steve held his daughter's hand. She was holding on hard, not saying a word. Sitting there, with her dad, getting her small wounds checked up was the best thing to do at the moment.

He leaned in and kissed her head. "Let's go home" He whispered.
