~~~December, 21 2020~~~
It all started with a job.
It was 1978, a month after Grease had come out.
I'm not a mechanic, but I know my way around the inside of a car.
Especially older ones.
Unfortunately, my knowledge didn't save me.
~~~July 16, 1978~~~

"You said you needed me to take a look at your car?"

I ask the guy who hired me.

He nods.

"Yeah.

And I need it done in a cuppa hours.

My yungin's at his buddy's house watchin the movie that came out last month.

The one with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta."

"Grease?"

"Yeah! Yeah, that's the one!

Ya seen it?"

"Yes, sir.

Watched in theaters."

"Any good?"

"Hell yeah!

I don't like the ending too much, but the rest of the movie is gold!"

"Is that so?

I guess I'll have ta give it a look-see."

"I highly recommend it, sir."

"Alright.

Well, I'll leave ya alone and let ya do your work.

Two hours, ya here?"

I nod.

"No later, sir."

"Good.

And I'll pay ya afterwards."

"I expect it no sooner, sir."

He bids me farewell and heads inside.

I pop the hood and look inside.

"That's...

Quite a mess-

I'll still get it done in plenty of  time!"

I turn on the radio and start working.

About an hour in I take a break.

I'm dripping with sweat and in desperate need of a drink.

I go inside and drink about three tall glasses of ice water after washing my hands.

I set the ice aside and help myself to some watermelon like the missus said I could.

When I'm done I eat most of the ice chips and dump the rest in the sink.

I wash and dry the glass before putting it away and going back outside to finish my work.

After working for thirty minutes and listening to songs like Shadow Dancing, Night Fever, Stayin' Alive, and  Kiss You All Over, the next song comes on.

To my surprise and delight, the next song is Greased Lightning.

One of my favorite songs from the movie.

I've been sweating since I came back outside.

And while I try, I don't catch every drop of sweat.

So when I see where the sweat is about to land, my eyes widen.
