you were absolutely shitting yourself. it was your first private gig, every who was there was there to watch you, not just there for the sake of being at the bar at the time

"mum, i don't think i can do this" you whisper as adele finished the wing of your eyeliner. she insisted on helping and due to your shaking hands you didn't want to risk poking your eye out

the blonde uses her free hand to gently grab your chin and direct your head to be looking straight at her "my love, you're going to smash it. trust me!" she softly reassures you, she used that calming tone which relaxed your accelerating heartbeat

"but-" you were about to retort but she cut you off by covering your mouth "eh, nope. don't wanna hear that nonsense" you retaliated your silencing by licking her hand

she was quick to retract her hand and cringe "you cheeky bugger"

"ah, but you love me"

once she cleaned the saliva off of her hand she pinched your cheeks and put on a squeaky baby voice to tease you "of course i do, my baby"

~

as walked out on the little stage the crowd of people cheered, you nerves calmed at the sight of banners and all sorts made just for you. they all seemed to be women, there were only a few males dotted around the place and even then they seemed to only there due to being dragged hy their partners

"gatekeep adkins" a group of girls screeched which made you quirk an eyebrow

bringing the mic up to your mouth, you muttered "eXcUsE mE" they responded by screaming it louder

"noo, i heard you the first time" trying to get a better view of the banner they were holding you went to the front on the stage, squatting down leaning forward, eyes squinted "i knew i should've worn my glasses" some laughed whilst others cheered at your comment

"wait a second" with that you ran backstage to find your black rimmed glasses that seemed to be already placed on the table. putting them on, you ran back to stage to get a proper look a the sign

'we're gatekeeping y/n adkins' it read, it was held by at least five different people

"you guyssss. don't wanna share me with the world huh?" you teased

as you scanned the crowd for the umpteenth time you noticed at the back corner you mum stood with her friends, paloma faith and alan carr.

paloma was like a second mum to you, but she had been busy recording new music and looking after her kids, you hadn't seen her in ages, so to see her coming out of her way to support you made your eyes water

alan was like that uncle that always takes the mick out of you but deep down will support you through anything and for that you loved him

your mum. your mum was your rock, she's the reason you were where you were. she never deemed any of your dreams impossible, even when you said you wanted to become queen at the age of six. she got you a damn toy crown, draped a red blanket over a kitchen chair to act as a throne and you 'became queen'. adele never failed to tell you how proud you made her and how much so loved you, day in day out she reminded you

the three of them sat at the back so they didn't attract any attention and ruin your private event, people paid to see you and not them after all

"i'm so grateful you guys are here for me and actually want to listen to my voice" you spoke to the crowd, as well as the three in the back specifically, people awed

things went quite for a seconds as you zoned out staring at a girl in the third row area

"y'all are so pretty, damn"  you mumbled under your breath, forgetting completely that you were indeed holding a microphone "shit- fuck- ah, at this rate you guys aren't gonna hear me sing"

"marry me!!" someone randomly yelled, taking you by suprise

you resumed your earlier position of squatting at the front of the stage "darling.. how about a date first"

"gatekeep adkins"
