Side Note: This is a Talon Dick x Jason Au. What if Batman sent Robin, his first soldier, to the Court of Owls. Hoping to use the Court of Owls beloved "Gray-son" as a distraction for Dick to go undercover and bring them down from the inside. But instead of bringing down the Court of Owls as easily as Batman had hoped for, he loses Dick to them instead. Jason replaces Dick and only being told the first Robin had died because Batman couldn't accept the fact that his first soldier was turned into a killer. Unknown to them both that Dick was still inside of himself and was still waiting for Batman to come save him, to protect him from the mental and physical torture.
Side Note 2: Bad Father Bruce/Batman.
Court of Owls
Beware the Court of Owls,
He was told he held a choice but deep down, even at the young tender age of nine, he knew he didn't. If he refused, he'd make his new father disappointed in him or worse, he'd have Robin taken from him due to not being brave enough to deal with any mission that crosses his path.
So, he agreed. He was going to allow the Court of Owl's to take him in as they've been waiting to do for years now. He knew his grandfather has been watching him from a distance, already tried taking him when his parents had fallen to their deaths. A failed attempt at kidnapping.
That watches all the time,
But now Batman knew over the court of owls, he wanted to bring them down and bring them to justice of their crimes.
He just needed a way in, someone on the inside.
The court would be blinded by their joy over gaining the Gray son that they'd overlook how careless Batman was to have lost his little bird. Dick would let himself be taken, be trained by the court and help sneak Batman in as soon as possible.
Batman promised. He'd come for him. He'd step in before he'd be turned into a Talon completely. He wasn't going to leave Dick in their hands, he said so.
Dick trusted him, and so he let his grandfather take him away.
Ruling Gotham from a shadowy perch,
He blamed himself at first.
The message must have never reached him, the signal must have been blocked.
The clues left behind must have not been good enough for Batman to understand.
The signs left at unlocked doors and tunnels must have been covered up.
He failed Batman's mission, he was careless, weak, ignorant and useless hero.
Behind granite and lime.
Batman never came.
Talons slashed at him.
