Abigail,an undergraduate in a Nigerian university,is on the phone with her mother.
Abigail:Mom, Good morning ma
Mother: Morning,my daughter
Abigail:Mom,how are you?
Mother: I am fine dear
Abigail:ok (pauses)
Mom: what happened dear,why did you call?
Abigail:(laughing nervously) I just called to say hi Mummy
Mom:ok and to ask for your allowance abi
Abigail:Yes, mummy
Mom:ok,I will send it next week
Abigail:Ah mummy,next week is far oh.I need the money to for the project I am to submit this week.
Mom:Ehen,and you are just calling me.See I am very rich this week o,you will have to manage your self till next week.Don't you have any savings.I have always told you to keep some money aside for emergencies.
Abigail:Yes,I do but it's my savings
Mom:Use it. when I send money to you next week then you can replace it.
Abigail:(Reluctantly) ok ma
Mom:ok o,bye
Abigail:bye
She then turns to her room mate Ronke.
Abigail: Everytime I ask my mother for money she always post me till next week.Gosh,I don't know what I would have done if I had no savings.
Ronke:Thank God that you save
Abigail :Yeah
Ronke:I really think I should emulate you.Your mom taught you well
Abigail:Abi
Ronke:Yes o.It's a good habit.
Abigail:Oh but I prefer asking my Dad for money.it's because he travelled if not,he is the one I would have called.
Ronke:How do you mean?
Abigail:Because he is out of the country,he can't send money to me until he comes back and I can't wait till then.
Ronke:Who told you that? That's not true anymore.Haven't you heard of internet banking?
Abigail:I think I have heard about it
Ronke:With internet banking, your Dad can send money to you from anywhere in the world
Abigail:Really
Ronke:Yes now .You should tell your Dad about it.All he has to do is to register by filling in his details and viola,he will be able to send money to you anytime.
Abigail:I will tell him about it.If he does it,it will be a big relief to me.Thank you my friend.
