Finally Savannah's sobs abated.   Her body was still shaking in Seb's arms though.   He was furious.  Who the hell had done this to her? Why hadn't she told him? What else had the bastard  done to her?  He slowly released her.

"Look at me Sav," he said gently.   She slowly raised her face to him.  He took her chin in his hand and gently turned her face to the side.   He noticed there was bruising around her eye socket too.

"Who did this?" Savannah shook her head.   "Sav, tell me!  Did the kids see?  Are they ok?  Where did it happen? Out on the street? Christ, why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to ruin your holiday," she mumbled.

"You silly girl!  I thought you were ignoring me."

"Technically I was."

"Why Sav?"

"I wouldn't have been able to keep my shit together if I spoke to you."

"Well I'm here now.  You don't have to keep it together.   I'm here to keep it together for you."  She began to cry again.

"In the kitchen."

"What about the kitchen?"

"It happened in the kitchen."  Seb felt sick. The bastard who had done this to her had done it in her own home? He wanted to hunt the piece of shit down and teach him a lesson he wouldn't forget in a hurry.

"Who Savannah? Who did this to you?  Have you called the police?"

"He said if I did he'd be back to finish the job."

Seb stood up. He took his phone out of his pocket.  He rang Antti.

"Antti, I need you to come over to Sav's to get the kids and the dogs.  No questions," he barked. Then he hung up.  He sat back down.

"Did you see a doctor?"

"No. I'm ok, it's just bruises.  I don't think anything is broken."

"Are you hurt anywhere else?  Did he...?" His eyes looked down to her waist.

"No, he didn't touch me like that." She looked horrified by the idea.

"Ok baby, the kids...did they?"

"Casey was upstairs playing. Max...he walked in. He saw. Christ, my poor baby. He's been so brave. He's looked after me, fetched me painkillers and food without being asked, he's made sure Casey has been ok. I should be looking after him, not the other way round. He's only eight for Christ sake. I've tried to keep going but this afternoon I just...it hurts Seb, I had to lie down."

"Maddy called round, she never said..."

"I kept the right side of my face hidden behind the door. I was wearing a hoodie that covered my neck. She didn't see."

Seb stood up and walked back towards the open door. "Seb, where are you going? Please, don't go. I'm sorry."

Seb stopped in his tracks and whirled around. "Don't apologise Sav. You have nothing to be sorry for. This isn't your fault. It's the bastard who did this to you."

All Seb wanted was to ask her again who had done it but he needed to get her out of there. He didn't want to risk that animal getting his hands on her again, whoever he was. "I'm not going anywhere. I'll be back in a minute."

He left the bedroom and ran down the stairs. He went into the lounge and saw Casey sat watching television.

"Sepastinun!" she exclaimed as she saw him. She jumped up and ran into his arms.
