City Of Flowers
Rook: Let us take a look at the products the Antique Alley has in store, shall we? Bonjour, monsieur. Such lovely weather we have. I feel like we are to be met with such lovely crafts today.
Shopkeeper: Bonjour! This is the perfect day to come looking for treasures! Please browse all you like. Enjoy yourselves, s'il vous plait!
Rook: Merci!
Shopkeeper: Oui!
Idia: U-um... Excuse me... A-are you also from the Shaftlands, Sir Rook...?
Rook: Non, my hometown is in the Sunset Savanna.
Idia: You sounded so local though!?
Riku: It sounded like you were born and raised in the City of Flowers.
Rook: My, I am honored to hear that. The people of this town are bright, lovely, and beautiful people, you see? I did a bit of research on the town beforehand, and it seems like this is a city where the arts are pretty much alive. One of the plays I absolutely adore is set in the City of Flowers, too. I feel excited just thinking of the discoveries we might encounter!
Idia: (quietly) He's getting too excited...! I can't keep up...!
Miyuki: Oh, I've found something beautiful already. Look, they have wooden figures for sale. My, how adorable.
Ruggie: Heh~ That's a pretty antique choice.
Silver: Hm...? The shops next-door are selling something similar, too.
Rollo: Ah, those wooden dolls are quite popular here. Its origin is unknown, but it's been around for a very long time. We found some old wooden dolls back at the bell tower, too. They're often sold as a set with miniature wooden houses.
Sikver: Oh, you're right. There are also building models on sale. They're pretty big.
Rollo: This is a model of Noble Bell College. Do you recognize the bell tower?
Rook: My, this building seems familiar. This one over here, too...
Riku: Oh! They are all buildings we could see from atop the bell tower! It's like a miniature version of the whole city.
Miyuki: How fascinating
Ruggie: But it's just made of wood, right? Plus, toys geared for kids won't fetch much of a price.
Idia: WAIT A MOMENT, SIR RUGGIE!!!
Ruggie: Whoa, what the heck...! I didn't know you could shout, Idia-san.
Idia: Look at the doll's joints closely...
Silver: Is there something wrong?
Idia: The shoulders, elbows, and wrists are all designed to be movable...
Rollo: Ah, yes. That's a relatively more modern design. They were likely carved from one block of wood in the past using a technique called whittling.
Rihanna: Overtime, demand for sophistication increased, so they started making the parts separately.
Idia: This is gorgeous craftsmanship~! Sir Ruggie, this is an exquisite figure!!!
Ruggie: So?
Idia: This is a scratch kit that has a different sophistication from most commercial kits...! I've never seen anything like this before!
Ruggie: ... So?
Idia: I'm sure it was made by a famous sculptor!
Ruggie: Don't care~ Wood isn't exactly rare.I'm not interested in anything that won't bring me profit.
Idia: Don't underestimate figures! A good quality figure can fetch hundreds and thousands of Madol.
Ruggie: What!?
Idia: Well-made dolls are treated as works of art, not toys. Premium ones are worth more than anything you can imagine, too.
Ruggie: They're priced at about 100 Madol here, but if I hype it up, I can sell it for 10x or more of the original price...!? Please tell me more!
Idia: Fuhihi~ I'll buy some as a gift for Ortho and Lily, too.
Silver: I'm glad to see Idia-senpai having fun. He was being quiet, so I was getting worried about him.
Miyuki: Me too. Thank you for your help, Rollo-senpai and Rihanna-senpai!
Rollo: It's quite different from the excitement I had in mind...
Rihanna: Indeed...
