~Cliff Pt. 3~

"Hey, Kofuyu! Come with us," one of the twins called my attention. I pressed my eyebrows together and pulled on a black mesh cover-up.

"We want to show you something," the other explained. I didn't really question it because Haruhi and a group of girls were standing with them. Of course, if it was just them, I'd be a lot more cautious. The twins lead the group to a small cave tucked beneath the cliff.

"What are we doing here?" I asked. The cave was darker, and it was noticeably colder in there than it was out there.

"This is the place. It's the most Haunted spot in all of Okinawa. The locals don't even come out here," said Hikaru. I rolled my eyes. Like, come on! The most haunted place just happens to be at the beach we're visiting. And the locals probably don't visit because it's supposed to be a private beach. I kept my disagreements to myself.

"They say that the only time you can even find this cave is at low tide. Obviously, many people have died here from drowning, and they still linger, taking revenge on anyone who happens to come inside!" Kaoru warned.

I looked to the girls beside me to see if they were buying this stuff. They were, and they were trembling and hugging each other out of fear.

"Look!" Hikaru shouted and pointed to an obscure corner. There was a ghost, a fake one, hanging from there. The guests screamed, and I cringed. Not because I was scared of the "ghost", but because I didn't expect such a loud shriek to come from them.

"What's going on? Are you trying to freak me out?" Haruhi asked. The rest of the girls had run out of the cave by then.

"What's wrong with you? I thought everyone was afraid of ghosts," Kaoru said, a little disappointed.

"Not even Kofuyu was scared of it," Hikaru complained while holding up the fake ghost.

"I've never seen a real ghost before," answered Haruhi. I just shrugged.

"Not believable enough, too many coincidences, oh, and, I barely believe a word you two say" I listed. I turned around and walked out of the cave.

I passed by the girls who were still scared on my way out, but I didn't acknowledge them. I don't understand how they were so freaked out.

The ocean water just barely reached my calves. I didn't expect the water to be so cold. I could hear the sloshing of water as someone approached me. I thought it was Ootori, but I was wrong.

"Hey, I have a question for you," said Haruhi. I hummed back, so she asked, "Have you noticed the guys are acting a little weird? They're trying to scare me, but I don't know why."

"They are? I mean, if they know what I'm scared of they probably want to know what you're scared of," I spoke without giving it too much thought. She was silent for a few moments, and I listened to crashing waves.

"You aren't going to tell them, are you?" She asked. I turned my head towards her and shook my head.

"No. You don't have to worry about that," I answered. She's my best friend. I know what scares her. I looked down at my feet and began to wiggle my toes. I started to sink into the sand.

A second set of footsteps approached, and I held my hands out behind me. The gusts of wind pushed the mesh coverup behind me. A hand touched mine, and I knew that was Ootori instantly.

"Okay, thanks, Kofuyu," Haruhi said. "I'll leave you two alone." Ootori pulled his hand away when he remembered we weren't in private. There were guests everywhere.
