After so many telenovelas and pocketbooks where I've only seen tanan, I wasn't expecting na mayayaya rin talaga ako sa totoong buhay.
And from someone I'm not even dating!
"Nahihibang ka na ba?" Tinakpan niya ang bibig ko gamit ang kamay niya dahil napalakas ang boses ko. There are still people roaming around but naco-conscious ako sa kamay niya na nasa mukha ko. Gaano ako ka-sure na malinis ang kamay niya?
"Makinig ka," inilapit niya ang mukha niya sa tenga ko. I just stopped breathing with how close we are, lalo pa siyang naging close. "Mag-usap tayo matapos natin tumakas dito."
I even forgot she was on top of me. Na-realize ko lang when she slowly stood up and helped me get up as well.
Hawak niya ang kamay ko habang dahan-dahan kami na papunta sa direction ng same wall na pinag pasukan ko. There was a tree near the wall that helped us climb and to get out of their house.
Agad niya akong hinila at patakbo kami na lumayo sa bahay nila. The surrounding was dark and my eyes haven't adjusted yet but Tala seems to memorize the road even with her eyes closed.
Nakatingin lang ako sakanya buong minuto na puro lang kami takbo.
How many times has this happened that she already memorized her way out . . .
Parehas kaming hingal when we finally stopped running. This feels far from their house, but near to where I'm currently staying. Confirmed, Tala memorizes this island like the back of her hand.
I was taken aback when she suddenly knelt in front of me and checked on my feet and reached to check my arms as well.
"Mukhang may mga sugat ka dahil sa iyong pag bagsak kanina," she said. She looked at me with a worried face. "Paumanhin at nadaganan kita."
I didn't say a word, I just looked at her face that I can now clearly see with the help of the moon.
"Sa tingin ko ay mas dapat natin na pagtuonan ng pansin ang mga sugat mo, Tala."
Kinalkal ko pa lahat ng maleta ko para lang makita kung may dala ba ako na first-aid kit but I think I haven't thought of emergency moments and just trusted myself na hindi ako mapapahamak.
"Tala, I'm sorry-" Natigilan ako nang pag lingon ko ay nakatapis na lang siya ng tela habang pinupunasan ang sarili gamit ang basang tela at maligamgam na tubig na nakalagay sa maliit na planggana.
"Halika at linisin din natin ang mga sugat mo sa braso, Luna," yaya niya pa. No fucking way I'll let her mend me half naked!
"A-Ano," napalunok ako. "Kaya ko na ang sarili ko."
