Book 1 chapter 21

" If only someone had stopped her before it came to this..."

In the ramshackle dorm, y/n lay on her bed with a paint brush in hand.
The night before she had decided that she wanted to pain the dorm and that was what she did.

"Hey, y/n ! Ah, good, you're already up." Grim spoke as he entered the paint smelling room.

"Today's the big duel! Let's DO this thing." Ace cheered, entering soon after.

Y/n groggily nodded, brushed out and braided her long hair and then got ready to start the day.

-heartslabyul dorm-

Heartslabyul Student A:  Did you hear? They say someone's challenged Housewarden Rosehearts to a duel!

Heartslabyul Student B:  Riddle Rosehearts? Seriously?! Whoever it is has gotta be outta his mind. Riddle will have his head off in five seconds flat.

Heartslabyul Student C:  Still, it's the first challenge since Rosehearts took power. I'm pumped!

"You're saying Ace and Deuce are challenging Riddle for the housewarden's seat?!
Please tell me you're kidding." Carter asked in disbelief

"I tried to stop 'em." Trey sighed out

"Of all the stupid ideas... I just hope this doesn't make everything worse." Carter mumbled out

"You and me both." Trey mumbled after

"We are about to commence two challenges for the housewarden position at Heartslabyul House.
The first challenger is Ace Trappola. The second challenger is Deuce Spade."

Crowley spoke, walking into the dorm

"The current housewarden they have challenged is Riddle Rosehearts.
Now, in accordance with the duel rules, please remove the magic-sealing collars as they would provide an unfair disadvantage."

Crowley continued as he supervised the duel

"Ah! FINALLY, the dumb collar is off!" Ace spoke pumped as he stretched his shoulders

"Enjoy your moment of freedom. The collar will be back on soon enough.
I could hardly believe it when I heard you two intended to duel me. Is this a joke?" Riddle chided, looking at the two disapprovingly

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Ace glared

"I'd never propose a duel as a joke." Deuce added on

"Hmph. Have it your way. Let us get this over with." Riddle huffed, crossing his arms as he pulled out his magic pen.

"Uh, Riddle, what do you want to do about today's afternoon tea?" Carter asked, unsure.

"First off, A foolish question. You know that the rules stipulate I take my tea every day at 4 p.m. sharp. And, invite y/n.." Riddle spoke, deciding to invite y/n to his tea party.

"It's just that it's already past 3:30...and y/n..?" Carter asked

"And you fear that I will be late? All the more reason to end this promptly.
It appears I have little time to waste. Rather than facing my opponents in succession, I will take on both at once."

Riddle spoke, looking over to y/n who was swinging around a rose tree in the rose garden, away from everyone else and the fight.

Heartslabyul Students:  You can do it, Housewarden!
Knock 'em dead, sir!

"......" trey followed Riddles gaze and chuckled at the sight of a carefree y/n.

"Cowards." Deuce spoke about the heartslabyul students who were supporting their toxic house warden

"Myah. I got a bad feelin' about this." Grim spoke worriedly as he looked at Ace and Deuce and their opponent.

"Hey, at least we got a plan!" Deuce chided in with a pout

"Headmage, please give us the signal." Riddle spoke, turning his head towards Crowley who was taking out a small hand mirror

"When the mirror I've thrown shatters upon the ground, that is your signal to begin. Ready... Go!
BATTLE!" Crowley started, smashing the mirror on the ground.
