CW: major character death, analogical, Logan angst, unsympathetic!Roman

"Thomas! It's time to start our new schedule." Logan sank into Thomas' room and saw he was splayed across his bed. "Well, it was time a few hours ago, but I digress." He grumbled under his breath. Thomas rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. "Great! Good start. I'll wait for you in the kitchen.'' Logan sank out.

Thomas stumbled out of the bathroom and to the closet. Roman appeared behind him. "Ooh, pick that outfit! No, that one. Perfect!" Thomas got dressed and Roman summoned a hairbrush and handed it to him. "Let's go!" They raced downstairs and almost slammed into Patton, who was holding a tray full of scrambled egg croissants.

"Whoa! Careful, kiddos!" He raised the tray over his head and they slipped by him. "You're just in time for breakfast!" He set the tray on the table and everyone grabbed a croissant.

"Perfect. A nutritious breakfast to start the day, then to the tasks at hand." Logan snagged a croissant, pulled out a pen and notepad, and crossed something off. "After, we start on the new exercise routine we made to keep us in shape."

Roman waved him off. "We already have a super exercise routine. Mine! It consists of adventure and heroism! Yours is filled with boring situps and pushups. I'll take it from here.'' Roman tapped Logan's chest with the back of his hand, smirking, and turned back to Thomas.

"I-I beg your pardon?" Logan spluttered, incredulous. Roman glanced at him with a look that said 'you heard me.' Logan took a deep breath and looked away, moving to the next item on his list.

"Thomas, it's time to film a video." Logan sank into the living room to see him and Patton fiddling with fake feathers, popsicle sticks, and hot glue at the coffee table.

"Yeah, yeah. Just a sec. We're almost done with this bird house." Thomas held up his index finger to Logan.

"But Thomas-" Logan protested. Patton interrupted him.

"Logan, he can film the video later. It's not needed for another two weeks." Patton and Thomas returned their focus on the popsicle stick box.

"But-" Logan's voice was barely a whisper. He touched his lips in worry, then shook his head and sank out to his room.

That evening, Logan opened the door to the mindscape living room and saw the other sides curled up in blankets on and around the couch, watching a movie. He reached out to tap Virgil's shoulder to ask him why they didn't invite him, but pulled his hand back, deciding against it. He silently walked back to his room and curled up in his bed.

Logan's phone buzzed and he sat up and grabbed it. A mass message to all the sides from Thomas. Meet in the living room! Time to film a video.

Logan stood and changed into unwrinkled clothes before sinking into his place in the living room. The others greeted him briefly before continuing their conversations. Logan opened his mouth to respond, but no sound came out. He stood there for fifteen minutes before someone finally realized he hadn't said anything.

Virgil turned to Logan and asked, "What do you think, teach?" Everyone's eyes turned to him and he opened his mouth and closed it without even trying to say anything. Virgil tilted his head in confusion and Logan sighed, tears pricking his eyes.

He opened his mouth again and tried to speak, but, again, no sound came out. Virgil set a hand on his shoulder and Logan looked away, pulling out his notebook and pen. He scratched out a message and held out the paper to Virgil, who read it out loud.

"I can't speak. My voice has been fading for weeks." Patton and Virgil gasped and covered their mouths while Thomas looked confused.

"Faded? That can happen?"

Roman scoffed. "Oh, please. He's just upset because we chose my ideas over his." Virgil's head whipped around and he looked like he was about to stab Roman with his own sword.

He turned back to Logan and Patton asked in a hushed voice, "Why didn't you tell us?"

Logan scribbled out another note and Virgil read it. He closed his eyes and whispered, "Would you have listened?"

Logan leaned forward and kissed Virgil on the cheek, the tears finally slipped down his face, before closing his eyes, smiling, and fading out of existence.

Patton gasped and turned his face into Thomas, crying. Virgil screamed, then whirled on Roman, tears streaming down his cheeks. "This is all your fault! You always hated him! You ignored him!" He turned to Patton. "You both ignored him! You...you..." He sank out, appearing in Logan's room, the walls shaking and crumbling. He quickly snatched up everything he could grab as fast as he could. As the ceiling fell in, he hesitated, thinking of giving up, before Logan's face appeared in his mind. He shook his head to dispel the idea and leapt through the door as the room crumbled. He collapsed in a pile in the hallway, curling up into a ball, sobbing, holding the jackets and ties and trinkets to his chest.
