RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG
The halls of the busy school were buzzing as students moved in and out of classrooms, finding their next destination. Some headed for early lunch, others had to wait another hour.
"Hey! How was Art?" Kelly asked, running into Leyla in the hall.
Both girls were heading towards the lunchroom, along with many other students.
"It was cool. I'm loving Mrs. Lee. She a sweetheart, fo sho!" Leyla said shyly.
"That sounds great." Kelly responded, as they made their way towards the busy lunchroom.
"But that evil bitch, Gwendolyn, is in the class. Ugh!" Leyla said disgusted, annoyed.
"Leyla, c'mon! Focus! Control! Remember what Cap said!" Kelly immediately said.
"I know, I know. I gots this!" Leyla said confidently.
"We should start working on the questions for the interview!" Kelly said excitedly.
"Uhhhh! Girl, you read my mind!" Leyla said with a bright smile.
As the two hopped excitedly out to have lunch, Rubio went downstairs to the 'dungeon'. It was the only classroom in the basement of the school. It was recognized as the dungeon because the room had no windows, no decorations and was painted a stale gray color. It only hosted an old metal teacher's desk with a rusty chair, twenty of the worst conditioned chairs in the school and one door that shrieked every time it was opened and closed. The lightning was bright, but the room was depressing. It was meant to have no distractions other than homework. The nickname fitted perfectly!
After the bell rang, Mr. Logan called to order and instructed the group about the rules of study hall. He was no teacher, just an angry and tired old coach! So, he didn't care about politeness or learning strategies. They were there to do homework and homework was what they would do. He announced that all students had a record book to keep: once they went in they reported to him the assignments they had to complete, and at the end, they would show him the work completed. They each had one warning before calling their parents and getting detention, which was held in the same room.
Since it was the first day, all they had to do was complete the registration form with their information and schedule. They were to mingle quietly, but no loud outburst, no music...no annoying the teacher! Mr. Logan was in no mood for shenanigans.
"Sup, Rubio?" Marv said as the youngsters approached his chair.
"Hey Marv!" Rubio said greeting him with a fist pump. He sat down across from him.
"We out here stuck in the dungeon! Damn!" Marv lamented, frustrated.
"Yeah..this sucks!" Rubio agreed.
"Might as well, huh?"
Some minutes went by, as they both sat down in silence. Rubio fidgeted with his pencil while Marv scrolled through his social media. Suddenly, Rubio leaned towards Marv.
"Yo, Marv! Can I ask you something?" the youngster asked, leaning towards Marv.
"Sup?" the older teen responded, eyes glued on the screen.
"You think my pops would give me back?"
"Aw, man! What'd you do?" he complained, rolling his eyes. He set the mobile down and turned to the worried sophomore.
"Nothin'...I told you, I'ma angel!"
"So, why you think cap would kick you out?" Marv asked confused.
