When the world told me that I wasn't enough,

It left me to pick up the glued pieces of me on the floor

Like a riddle waiting to be finally solved

By another human whose patience was enough

To complete the complex puzzle in my life called love

I was never a fan of professing the feelings in my heart

But there was someone who made me want to

There were days I wrote how I felt as they grew

I loved him with flowery words; in silence and in secrecy

Neither my closest friends nor he knew

I gave up when I found out that our love wouldn't bloom

Because he had a girl who he wanted to pursue

That day was a mess I would rather forget forever

Yet I wrote it down in poetry, the words still fresh in my mind

Now that I look back, it wasn't even worth it to do

I've grown to love myself searching for solitude

And I found someone new who, in my standards, I approve

Still, I didn't think that I would fall in love again

But then there was you
