Tyler (Joseph) POV

"This place is so weird. I don't know if I like it. Everyone here is so ecstatic about everything. I feel boring, compared to them," I told my best friend, and roomate, Josh Dun.

"True," Josh remarked as we joined the food line. "It'll be different here, Tyler. You knew that when we applied. You knew that they didn't have a chapel or anything here. Even the food's different."

Josh had most definitely spoken too soon, as a blob of corn was plopped on to my plate. Being from Ohio meant corn almost every single day. It was our main export. The state was pretty much occupied with it. Josh made some consolation squinty eyes at me and looked for anyone we might know.

"Do you want to just go sit at a table with someone who looks our age? Or that guy we saw walking into the room next to us?" I pointed out to Josh. He nodded and continued looking.

"The guy with the skunk hair was going into 223. Let's go sit with them." he said.

"Hey, we're Tyler and Josh, your neighbors," I introduced when we got over there, pointing to us respectively. "Can we sit with you?"

"Yeah, sure!" Skunk hair's friend said. "Just pull up a couple of chairs. There's going to be a lot more people. I'm Alex, by the way."

"And I'm Jack," said Skunk hair, with a mouthful of corn, putting a name to the . . . hair I knew?

"So you guys are new here?"

"Yeah," Josh replied. "We're from Ohio."

"Cool. We don't have corn every day, by the way. Pull up your chairs so we have enough."

"How many people are going to be sitting here?" I asked.

"Pretty much the whole floor. Jack and I knew most people in our grade last year - and now they have new roommates, so they're all sitting here. And, possibly, Jenna x2, Tay, Lzzy, maybe Becca, and I don't know, Lynn?"

"Debby," Jack added.

"Can't forget Debs," Alex said.

"Here comes Brendon, and who's that?"

"Never seen him before," Jack added as Josh and I sat down in the chairs we had pulled up to the table.

"Hey guys," the guy the skunk haired boy and his Alex referred to as Brendon said. "This is Gabe, my roommate. He doesn't bite, don't worry."

"Unless you're into that," said Gabe.

"Who are they?" Brendon said, completely ignoring Gabe's blatant sexual comment, and nodded in the direction of Josh and I.

"I'm Josh and that's Tyler," Josh clarified. "We're from Ohio."
