Key Four: Imagination

Beginning Quote: "What is now proved was only once imagined." ~William Blake

Imagination. Many think of it as an improper thing to have. Many think it is only for children, people who can dream about their future. They think that they cannot imagine because their future is plain and clear. What sad souls they are. They do not know what a little imagination can do.

Don't be afraid to dream. Don't be afraid to imagine. Our brains are too complex to only hold reality. There is a rather large area left after that is stored. It is open, free to be filled with anything. Anything you can imagine.

One day I'm going to do that. One day that'll be me. I'll be able to do all those cool skills one day. I know it. I have dreams about it. I can already imagine myself flipping through the air. And then...BAM! Perfect landing! 10.0!

I'm seven years old. My name is Avery. I'm a Level 4 in gymnastics. And one day I'm going to be just like the big girls.

I'm doing that now. That's me. I can do all those cool skills. I knew ever since I started when I was a tiny toddler that I wanted to be a gymnast. It took a long time. Many times I wanted to quit; reality was too overwhelming. It kept telling me that I'd never get there, that I wasn't good enough. But there was another, larger part of me that pushed reality away. Imagination. Imagination told me that I could. Imagination told me that I was good enough. Reality still tried to bombard its way through, but didn't succeed. Imagination had taken over.

Gymnastics is a very difficult sport. Many discover reality and quit. But a small number don't. Instead of reality, there is imagination. And they keep imagining, keep dreaming, until they reach their goal. They look back and wonder how they got that far when so many quit, so many stopped dreaming. Imagination.

I'm twelve years old. My name is Avery. I'm training to be an elite in gymnastics. Right now, I'm competing Level 8. And I'm one of the big girls.

Can you imagine what it'll be like when you open the door? What it'll feel like to finally understand and be able to live life?

You can? Great! You've found the fourth Key. Imagination. You can imagine. You are now even closer to opening the door.

If you couldn't imagine, that means you are too concerned with reality. Let it go. Allow your mind to open up to other thoughts. Allow yourself to dream, to wonder, to imagine.

Hopefully, imagination helped you find other Keys you may not of found earlier. Maybe it made you happy. Maybe it gave you courage. Maybe it inspired you to rebel. Maybe it...

Imagine. Knowledge is learning. Something that has already been figured out. Imagination is creating. Something that has yet to be discovered. And the only way to discover new things is to imagine. The only way to create your life is to imagine.

Ending Quote: "Imagination is more important than knowledge." ~Albert Eintstein
