Love Letters

The love letter you sent me still smells like you,

That sweet cologne of yours, scented of morning dew.

You haven't left my side yet,  have you?

As the sky began to tint with an orange hue.

As I read the contents of your letter,

I feel my heart heal and I get just a little better,

You're not here next to me to hug me again,

As the weather grows colder with the incoming rain.

I smell that familiar scent as you hold me close,

As the rain heavily pounds against the window,

I shut my eyes in fear I'll lose the one I love most,

Or that I'll hurt you like the thorns on a rose.

As we dance along the corridor to our favorite melody,

Feeling our hair sway about by the cold breeze,

With fallen leaves scattered around us from the trees,

I couldn't help but to finally be able to feel free.
