Both Alex and I gawked speechlessly at the well-built newcomer who lurked in the threshold. It's strongly evident that this black-attired giant is an accomplice of the scrawny dipshit pinned beneath me. His face was obscured with tinted glasses and a beret. He steps in, the floorboards protesting against his weight, and shuts the door silently behind him.

I almost smirked in spite of myself. Came to finish what you let off? But my amusement was short-lived when he produced something from his coat. A cold chill traveled up and down my spine as he closed the gap between us, until the cold barrel of his silencer made contact with my head.

"Release him," And he shifts the gun's direction to Alex. "or I'll blow her head off."

My jaw clenched and the blood coil in through my veins as I stared at The Giant's face with cold determination. At the corner of my eye, I could discern Alex slowly inching away from the line of fire.

"Move an inch and I'll shoot." He snarled at Alex without looking. "Well?" He adds as he clicks the safety off, ready to discharge.

Torn between logic and impulse, my fists shook with fury. With one last resenting look, I made a calculating twist to the arm I held, and was rewarded with a satisfying yelp of pain. The knife within Dipshit's grasp loosens and topples noisily to the floor. I released his hand and just as I am about to rise, I'm suddenly struck on the side of my face with the butt of his gun-making me plummeted sideways. A searing pain overwhelms my left cheek, sliced by the impact.

"Gideon-!" I heard Alex cried, but her voice was cut off with a small moan. Her shoulders sagged and her body swayed defenseless against The Giant. Her knees finally buckled and gave in, all while he held her at the collarbone, giving it an expert squeeze. A pressure point.

Shit.

"Get your fucking hands off her." I growled as I support myself on one elbow and attempt to stand, yet another blow to my abdomen sent me reuniting with the ground. The lightly splintered, wooden floor grazed my cheek like sandpaper. I scramble to regain balance, but the injury on my right shoulder and arms were enough of a hindrance for me to stand-let alone to accurately fight back. Think Gideon, think. There has to be a way out of this shithole.

You can't fail her now.

Amidst of my unspoken monologue, my body forcefully turned and I lay on my back to the floor by Dipshit. He mounts on me, trapping me beneath his gaunt figure, and raises his fist. His knuckle connects with my face, the collision left me blinded with tears. With my whole face on fire, I focus on remaining alert and coherent. Yet another hard blow had proven otherwise, and I could taste the rustic flavor of blood on my lips.

Dipshit staggered for the fallen knife and towered over me with a gleeful sneer on his face. A flicker of victory flared his cold, dark eyes and strands of blonde hair escaped his askew bonnet. He hoists a heavy-booted foot on my right shoulder, making the ache there intensify. Crimson red oozes out and pools beneath me.

"You're gonna regret that, you piece of shit." He leered as he puts more pressure on my injury-making me bit my lips as I wince in pain.

"Enough already." The Giant spoke with deadly calm. He tossed him a bundle of rope produced from his coat pocket. "You had your fun. Restrain the girl for now; it seemed I went overboard with her vital point." He knocked Alex, who still clung to him unconsciously, with his leg and slumping her onto the floor.

"He almost broke my fucking arm!" Dipshit argued. He changed the direction of the knife he held with one flick of his hand, making it face downwards in a reverse knife grip technique. The edged in blade shook violently from his grip. He casts the rope he seized in one hand, a doubtful glare. "This wasn't even part of the plan." He snarled, his deadly eyes return to mines.
