All the air from my lungs left in a sudden rush. Denial and disbelief collided at once, sending an unexpected wave of nausea throughout me. I gripped the arms of the chair for support. It took me a moment to gather my thoughts and myself.

"What?" I stared at my aunt as though she just sprouted another head.

She cringed; now regretting her poor choice of words. "Please be patient Allie. It is essential for you to first understand the entirety of this. I'll get to that point eventually." She waited for my reaction. How could I remain patient when she just dropped a bombshell about a secret cult who were responsible for my parents' death, were now after me? After losing an internal battle, I gave in and nodded at her.

Almost relieved, she continued. "My father had always been...fixated, on the other plane of existence. A life-changing occurrence came knocking on his door one day; he was approached by very peculiar individuals. They have caught wind of my father's expertise in archeological antiquities, as well in his passion with the paranormal and had come for his assistance."

She went to the corkboard and unpinned four Polaroid photos. She seated herself behind the rickety desk and handed the pictures to me. "They've asked him to translate those." They were snapshots of precise angles on what appeared to be an ancient container with a lid of some kind, engraved with unknown inscriptions.

"Since he had his own connections and resources, he managed to decipher the meaning of these ancient writings and was shocked at his findings. He delved deeper at the new world that opened before him." She pulled out a thick leather bound journal from one of the drawers, knowing that it would be there, and opened to a bookmarked page. She read;

"He who opens the sacred tomb, Releases the captives of eternal doom

Come forth will be power and chaos, Fire and wrath into the land of man

He who opens the sacred tomb, Be bound with a cursed hand of hope

Come forth will be the protector of earth, for only by blood shall the gates be undone"

The room fell silent, only to be shattered by my voice. "So you're saying that this," I hold out the photos. "is the very container used by King Solomon to imprison the seventy two demons?" I clarified.

"Yes. This is the translation of the engravings on that bronze vessel. Once opened, it states in these texts what shall soon occur."

My mind couldn't keep up any longer. Instead of lighting a way to the right path, I was still engulfed in darkness, blindly coping my way out. I glanced at the Gideon who now seated on the other chair with Vaughn hovering at his side, confusion etched on both faces.

"Please don't make this difficult any longer for our sakes. What seemed black and white to you is a multi-hued mess for the three of us." I motioned my hand to myself and the two men.

She sighed. "As your grandfather once told me, whoever opened and released these demons possessed the ability to captivate them once again—which at this point, was one of the Babylonians. And apparently this ability goes down by bloodline; it took my father years to trace down the descendants of The Releaser up to this date." She gave me a graved look. "Forty-five years ago he tracked down the last link at that time; it was your father."

I lay numbly on my back in my childhood bed, staring at the dark paneled ceiling. I yearned for the oblivion of sleep, but unfortunately, my mind worked profusely. I ended up deliberately doing what I tried to ignore for the first hour ever since I retreated in my old room; I brooded. I tried to make sense of everything as I recall back on my aunt's words.
