"This is way too short, mom" I complain as I check myself out in the mirror.
I'd decided to pull up in all black and here I was, looking all black.
I mean, the dress is cute and all, but it kinda feels short.
Not that mom seems to agree with me though. She thinks the dress is 'just fine'.

"Mandy, it's perfect," she reassures me with a smile.
"Don't you think it's showing off a bit too much of cleavage?" I ask.
"What? No."
She tips up my chin and stares straight into my eyes.
"Mandy, these are your best boob years. It's ok to show some cleavage."
"Mom!" I gasp in surprise.
Definitely wasn't expecting her to say that.... I mean, who says this to their kid??
Don't get me wrong, I think my mom's a really great mom, but I just didn't expect her to say that, AS A MOM!!!

"Wow"
I turn in time to catch Audrey close the door behind her.
"You look amazing, Mandy!" She tells me, holding my hand and signaling me to turn around for a full view.
"Whoa! You did a great job Lana," she compliments mom, who's still admiring me from a distance like an artist admires his work of art.

" I knowwwww" she yells in excitement. "I almost feel like a teenager again!!!"
We all burst out laughing.

"Come on Lana, you look exactly like a teenager. All you gotta do now's to feel like it," Audrey says, sending a blush to mom's cheeks.

Classic Audrey move.

"Thank you Audrey, and yes, you look great too. I'll leave you girls to it....y'all have fun!!" She screams out the last part, triggering an annoying scream from Audrey.

I only shake my head. I'm still quite nervous about this party.
Been psyching myself up for it, but I just can't help with the nervousness.

"You look human," I hear Miranda's voice say as she enters the room.
"Be nice to your sister" mom yells back from the corridor.
"I wish," I mutter to myself and ignore her till she leaves.

"The little brat. I seriously wonder how you're able to tolerate her." I can tell Audrey's annoyed too.

"Well, it's either that or I kill her, and I have no intention of spending my teen years in jail so yeah, tolerance is my best bet," I confess and we giggle.
"Alright then Mandy, we really gotta get going now."

I draw a long and deep breath before nodding shortly.
"Let's do this!" I say with an enthusiasm I didn't even realize I have.

I'm so amazed when we get to Allen's house. The outside is was a clear indication of what the inside would be.
Loud music is blaring out from the speakers and LED lights of different kinds blind the whole place.
Cars are packed in every inch of space and kids could be seen all around, trooping inside, most either just holding hands with the opposite sex or kissing or both and probably even more.

Almost immediately, Randy arrives with a clingy Cassidy desperately holding onto his arms as though her life depended on it.

"Hey nerds," he acknowledges us with a smile as he bypasses and heads on inside with Cassidy, who turns back to give a deathly glare.

Like girllll, relax. I don't even want your man.

Except you do.

Maybe I do....just maybe.

"Hi" I manage to say back with a smile he doesn't even see.
Audrey's too busy searching around for Allen to even respond.

Audrey half pulls half drags me inside the main house, where we spot Allen in the crowd.
He sees us and heads our way.
"You came" he shouts above the music and I nod back, only realizing a second later that it was meant for Audrey and not necessarily me too.
