As they left the scene of the destruction they had wrought without a care, the strangers couldn't help but notice the exterior design of the house. It featured three rooms, leading them to suspect that one of those rooms might belong to their Master's newborn baby, complete with belongings for the infant's needs.

One of Snr Malphas's followers remarked, "Snr Malphas shall be overjoyed by this tidings. A new Heir? Mayhap this one shall prove a fitting successor this time." The anticipation of a new generation within the Malphas family seemed to ignite a spark of hope and ambition among them.

Bern took a deep drag from his cigar, then spat out his disdain at the man. "You dolt, the master's progeny is a maiden!"  he exclaimed, tossing his cigar aside in disgust. He had noticed the unmistakable presence of a one-month-old baby girl's dress, and the realization that it was a girl and a potential new heir seemed to infuriate him. The idea of having to kneel before her in submission drove him to madness.

"So, what course of action do we undertake?" inquired one of the men.

Bern retrieved his tobacco, lighting it with a grim determination. "We shall report the tidings and ascertain Snr Malphas's interest," he declared, revealing his sharp teeth in a display of fierceness. The prospect of this new development had ignited a sense of urgency among them, and they were determined to pursue their master's interests.

In the rustic barn owned by Auntie Abby, a sense of restlessness hung heavy in the air. She paced back and forth in front of the baby, Vettriana, who gazed at her with innocent curiosity. "What am I to do? Ashline and Vinrik are gone, and it is well past the middle of the night," Abby muttered to herself, her brows deeply furrowed. Overwhelmed by the weight of the situation, she finally settled in defeat, sinking into a chair and gazing at Vettriana. It was then that she realized that in the midst of all the chaos, the baby was still wide awake, her presence a small glimmer of hope in the darkness of the night.

With a determined tone, Abby declared, "And you, young enchantress, shall retire," as she carefully placed Vettriana in her crib. Before leaving, she planted a tender kiss on the baby's forehead and whispered, "I vow to afford you a splendid life. I shall take you to Merlin. He is a most benevolent man, and he shall extend his aid." Abby made a solemn oath and extinguished the flame, leaving the room in darkness.

The following morning, Abby dressed in her finest attire, donning a simple long skirt, sleeves, a vest, and an old bonnet. She had also dressed Vettriana in a plain baby dress and a tiny bonnet, making her look absolutely adorable. Overcome with joy, Abby couldn't help but squeal with delight as she lifted Vettriana and spun around, their journey together beginning with a sense of hope and anticipation.

"Quite adorable indeed. I wish I could paint you this very moment, but we are off to see Merlin," Abby remarked with an affectionate smile. She gently placed Vettriana in the same basket that her mother had carried her in.
