My eyes slowly scanned over my surroundings. This room was beautiful! There was a four-post Alaskan king sized bed with a velvet comforter in the center of the room. There was a distinct red and brown color palate with gold accents throughout the whole room. There were thick, deep red curtains tied away from a massive window that led out to a balcony with the most amazing view of the gardens. There was a mahogany vanity and wardrobe to my left and a gold framed full-body mirror to my right. Even the carpet looked so soft I could just lay down and fall asleep there. The whole room was massive, as if every room in this entire castle was tailor made for the Koopa king himself. The bathroom was almost entirely black marble, with a beautiful (and quite large) quartz bathtub.

I decided to wash up first, so I started the faucet in the tub, and let the water warm up which surprisingly didn't take very long. I plugged the drain, closed and locked the door, and began to undress myself. I noticed a bottle of bubble bath sitting on the counter next to one of the sinks, and grabbed it and accidentally poured a little too much in and had to scramble to keep most of the bubbles in. After the tub had filled all the way, I climbed in and sat down and sighed as all of the tension in my muscles released. I began to scrub the sweat and dirt off of my body and out of my hair. 'I really hope Bowser didn't notice how bad I smelled' I thought as I scrunched up my nose while scrubbing every crevice of my body.

After I was fully clean and the water was no longer warm, I pulled the drain and climbed out of the tub, grabbing a large, soft and fluffy white towel from the towel rack above the tub. I wrapped it around my shoulders and basked in the warmth. I dried my self off before I realized, I have no other clothes to wear. Suddenly becoming very self conscious, I tightly wrapped the towel around myself before unlocking the bathroom door and peeking out into my room. I noticed a small bundle and a note on my bed. I picked up the note that was written in very neat and very pretty cursive,

Honored guest y/n,

I would greatly appreciate it if you would accompany me, Kamek, and my son to dinner and a tour of the gardens. Please wear the outfit I have selected for you, I do hope you like it.

                                                                                                           Sincerely,

                                                                                                                             King Bowser

I smile at the note, and look at the clothes on the bed. It's simple dress-casual attire, a deep red shirt/blouse, paired with black dress pants/skirt and some nice dress shoes to tie it all together. I put everything on, which fit perfectly, even the shoes, and left my cozy new home to go join them for dinner. I ask a servant which way to the dining hall and the led me to yet another large, heavily decorated door, which unlike the throne room, was wide open for the whole castle to see. I tentatively step in and see only Kamek sitting at the table. I sit across from him, and twiddle my thumbs while we wait for Bowser and his son, which I did not know he was a father.

Kamek cleared his throat across from me, and I looked up at him. He gave me a puzzled look, as if I was supposed to be doing something. I chewed the inside of my cheek and looked back down at my lap. Suddenly Bowser walks in from a doorway behind me, out of what I'm assuming must be the kitchen. He takes notice of the tension in the air as he pulls out his very large chair, and he turns to me and gives me a slight smile to try and break the ice, "You, um... You clean up good, y/n." he says awkwardly after he's seated. I mumble a quiet thank you and run my fingers over the tablecloth. "Where is Bowser jr.?" Kamek asks, seemingly trying to ignore my existence. "He said he was too tired to eat, so I went ahead and put him to bed." I looked up at him, making actual steady eye contact for the first time ever, trying my best to be more social and get him to like me. "I-I didn't know you had a son." I said super quietly, for some reason. I don't know why I'm being this shy, normally i'm very confident and well spoken, but there's something about Bowser that makes my stomach all fluttery and makes all my confidence evaporate.

Regardless of how I feel about him, he still somehow heard me. "Oh, yeah. Jr.'s my pride and joy. He's everything a father could want in a son." He said, his eyes sparkling. But just as sudden as that sparkle appeared, it vanished, and his whole demeanor changed in an instant. "But now we need to focus on the elephant in the room. What exactly did Peach do that made you try to kill her? What pushed you over the edge?" He said, his tone heavy and solemn. I thought back to when Peach started pushing me away.

"Come on, y/n! It's just a joke." Peach and Daisy giggled as I cleaned up the remaining shards of my ceramic project that I had been working on for months. It was going to be a gift for Peach for her coronation, which was only a week away. I glared up at my supposed "best friend" and stood up with my shattered hard work scooped up in my shirt. "Just a joke?! This was supposed to be for you! And what kind of joke is tripping me in the hallway anyways? Because if it's a joke, it must be an inside joke between you two, 'cause it wasn't funny!"  I shouted at her before storming off to my room.

I slowly came back to reality and realized I had been thinking for quite a while and left Bowser's question hanging all that time. "There wasn't anything in particular that set me off, I guess it was just a bunch of little things that built up a ton of anger inside me. And looking back on everything, maybe trying to kill her was a little dramatic." I said as honestly as I could. "Well, that's understandable, and you're probably right, maybe trying to kill was a little dramatic. But that doesn't mean your feelings aren't valid." Bowser says. Several goombas then come out of the door Bowser entered from with many trays of delicious looking food. But I was focused on Kamek's cold glare at me from across the table. When I got here, I was so hungry I thought I was going to collapse from the pain, but now with the reluctant acceptance of my arrival, my appetite has vanished. I need to find out a way to get Kamek to like me, but right now I just need rest to clear my mind.

In the most discrete way, I push my chair out from the table and quietly excuse myself, "Um, I'm really sorry, but I'm just not that hungry right now. I think I just need rest, but thank you for your hospitality, King Bowser." I mumble as politely as possible before exiting the dining room and almost sprinting back to my room. I exhale deeply once I've closed the door and flop onto my bed and close my eyes.

Then I hear three sharp knocks at my door...
