There was a winter formal being held at Chilton judging from flyers plastered on almost every wall. Victoria wasn't even interested in the formal because she didn't do large crowds where drinks could get spiked and people can get off easy because they have money.
The idea of attending a formal gave her a stomachache.
However, she needed to know if August wanted to go instead of putting it out of her mind, because she didn't want to go but she needed to know if August wanted to go.
So, she sucked up her feelings and said to him, "There's this winter formal at the school. Do you want to go with me?"
August looked at her, "Do you even want to go to that?"
"Not really, but I figured I should ask if you wanted to go," Victoria told him.
"Oh," August said. "Sure. It would be boring."
Victoria looked at him, "You want to go to a boring dance?"
August took her hand, "It won't be boring because you'll be there."
Victoria kissed him.
