So far Landons zoo birthday was going great. Watching Evelyn flirt with that worker put me in a sour mood but I got rid of him and we're watching the flamingos now. I wasn't jealous or anything I just think she should focus on Landon not some kid who works at the zoo

"Daddy look at the bird! Its so pink" Landon screamed pointing at the flock of birds in the water

Evelyn looked mesmerized by the birds as the both of them walked to the other end of the barrier to get a better view. While Landon was yelling at me to watch I couldn't keep my eyes off Evelyn, she looked great today. I started to think about this morning when I ran into her topless her breast were small but perky.

"Luke!" Savannah hit my arm forcing my attention

"Why do you keep staring at her like that" she asked looking at me annoyed

"I'm not doing anything Savannah. You should go watch the flamingos with Landon" I grunted not wanting to really talk about Evelyn with her. She was a messy women and giving her a tad bit of information was dangerous

"You know I hate birds. Your plaything can entertain that" she spitted with anger. I could tell she was threatened by Evelyn I didn't see a reason why. Landon loved her no matter what and Evelyn wasn't trying to takeover

"Savannah... I don't want to argue with you on Landons birthday " I stressed walking away

I made my way behind Evelyn "enjoying yourselves?" I asked making both of them turn around

"Yes! Best birthday ever" Landon answered me joyfully but Evelyn kept quiet not paying me much attention. Did I say something wrong?

We left the bird exhibit and started to go back to the car. Landon was getting tired and I think he used up all his energy for the day. Carrying him out the park I think the celebration was a success  the only downside was Evelyn barely talking to me since the goats. If she was mad about me ruining her chance with that worker I could care less. He wasn't goo enough anyways...

Everyone was in the car and I pulled out of the parking lot heading to Savannah apartment. I wanted to drop her off first then get some time with Evelyn.

"Are you taking him tonight" I asked Savannah looking at her through the mirror

"Yea, you can stay over too" she flirtatiously added

I looked over at Evelyn as she was staring out the window. I know it was Landons birthday but spending a night with Savannah was not something I could endure. I haven't even been over her place in years.

"I'm good! I got plans tonight" I told her

Since we were already in the city getting to her apartment was quick and I pulled up in front of the entrance unlocking the door. Landon woke looking around "Come on honey" Savannah unbuckled his carseat

"Bye bud! Have a fun time with mom" I said waving at him

"Ok! Bye daddy bye Evelyn" Landon jumped out the car and ran to the apartment entrance door.  I watched Savannah linger at the door

"I got to go Savannah" I spoke waiting for her to close the door and leave

"No need to be rude... are you sure you don't want to stay? You can drop her off and come back" she bit her lip trying to convince me but as I stated before I had plans

"I'm good. Evelyn and I have a date tonight" the word date drained all the emotion in Savannah's face disappeared and she slammed the door running inside

"Date? Luke what are you talking about" Evelyn questioned me as I drove away heading back to my house

...

"Luke what date? You never asked me out" walking in the house Evelyn was still asking questions about this date. Honestly it was something I meant to ask at the zoo but when she was flirting with that worker I let my anger get ahead of me

"We're going out. I'm kid free and promised to take you to a pub" I turned around as she lightly bumped into my chest

"Go change so we can head out" I finally said pushing her towards the stairs as I went to the kitchen for a drink. Thankfully she listened and didn't ask further questions

I opened the fridge and pulled out one of Landons juice boxes. I seriously needed to go to the store and stock up all we had were a bunch of sandwich beat and kid sizable juices. Sipping on the box I went upstairs to check on Evelyn

"Eve are you finished?" I asked before barging inside the room. I didn't want a repeat of this morning that was embarrassing

"Yea" she opened the door and I was starstruck. Evelyn had a mini brown skirt paired with a white halter top. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail and had on a bit of lipgloss.  I stared at her taking in the outfit... she looked hot

"Is it too much? You said it was a pub so I didn't know what to wear" she asked

"You look sexy" I said mentally

"Luke! Thank you..." she pushed my shoulder back and my face grew hot realizing I said that outlook not in my head

"Ummm, you know I got some boots that would put it together" I said taking her downstairs. I opened the closet near the front door and looked around for the women cow boots. Finding them under a coat I grabbed the boots and handed them to Evelyn '

"Wow, these are beautiful" she said taking them and sitting on the bench. I bend down to help her get them on and was happy they fit. Most things in that closet I haven't touched in a long time but the boots looked great on her

"Are these Savannah's?" Evelyn asked me dispassionately

"I mean I ask because only you and Landon live here and it-"

"They were my mothers" I answered cutting her sentence off. Evelyn looked at me abruptly and I started remembering the day she bought them. When we first moved out here she said she wanted to be like the other women in town and saved up her money to buy these boots

"Oh... would she mind me wearing them? I don't want to get them dirty" Evelyn added

"No, she won't mind. She'd probably give them to you herself" I lightly smiled at the thought of my mother

"Wait, I've never meet your mother. Does she live in town?"  Evelyns question made me freeze. I thought Abigail or someone in town had told her...

"Umm, no she died a couple years ago" I coughed standing up. This was an uncomfortable topic as I don't like to talk about my mother or family much.

"Oh, I'm-"

"Are you ready" I asked opening the door not in the mood for the "sorry for your lost" conversation. Evelyn didn't say anything else and followed me outside

Getting in the car I turned the radio on and headed to the pub

"I'm sorry if bringing up your mom was a lot" Evelyn's soft voice spoke

I guess she was still thinking about that. She never let things go and I sighed knowing I had to talk about it

"It's fine. She died a while ago, I'm okay Evelyn. Don't worry about it" I reassured her taking her hand into mine. She nodded her head and we went back to listening to music in silence
