Luke POV

"Dude, you have like 3 missed calls from the witch" George joked tossing me my phone

I groaned reading the messages Savannah had been leaving me for the past weeks. She was getting more hard to handle lately and I didn't know if it had to do with mom being in town or me. I wasn't going to call her back right now... that type of stress was not needed

I saw a message from Evelyn telling me she was going to pick up Landon and I smiled. Evelyn was like a breath of fresh air at times. I sometimes wish I treated her better though, my life drama has pulled her in and I just wanted us to be normal some days

The day I bought those flowers for Savannah I had a feeling something was off but I didn't feel like explaining myself then. Amber lately has been on my back questioning my relationship with Evelyn though, she keeps asking if were dating but I tell her its just not something we both want right now

I don't feel the need to explain my feelings to anyone but Evelyn anyways. Amber sometimes gets too involved and it wasn't a thing I felt had to be discussed every other day. George thinks I'm bull shitting but I swear Evelyn and I are strong and fine

"Luke!" Savannah yelled throughout the hardware store

I mentally scrammed, of course she shows up to my work space. I thought ignoring her messages was a big hint that I didn't want to be bothered...

Leaving my office I headed to the front and was introduced with Savannah and her mother. Both were carbon copies of each other as their blonde hair sat on their shoulders with a stuck up face judging everything was clear

"Savannah... I'm working" I grumbled as people were shopping in the store and I didn't need a scene for the town to gossip about

"Well, maybe answer the phone" her mother snickered as she rolled her eyes

Taking a deep breath I knew I had to handle this professionally, "what do you two need?" I politely asked giving them a smile

"Mom, wants to have Landon over for the weekend" she stressed

I had been over Savannas house multiple times in the past two weeks because she was having issues with her house. In return she's been helping me do some paperwork for my shop... now that her mom is in town the women thinks were getting back together

When I bought her those flowers they were a thank you gift since she was able to talk to the mayor and get me another space. Savannah mom took that as a proposal and keeps bugging us. I had no intention of dating Savannah again and we both came to that realization together... its time we move on

"Sure" I said

The door opened and we both turned as Landon ran inside hugging my legs, "Mommy! What are you doing here?" he asked joyfully

"Just showing granny around" she smiled

Evelyn walked over and smiled as she saw Savannah, "thanks for dropping him" I smiled taking the bag out of her hand

Evelyn blushed from the compliment and  turned to greet Savannah and her mother, "mom this is Evelyn. She's Abigail's granddaughter"

"Mmmm" were her only words before hugging Landon and walking away with him leaving the three of us alone

We all stood for an awaked second as Savannah gave me a cold look, I really wasn't happy about her popping up especially with Evelyn around

"So... Savannah how is the new job" Evelyn asked sparking a conversation

"oh, its nice" she mumbled

This was just weird and I think its time Savannah goes home before anything comes out her mouth that shouldn't

"So, I guess y'all should be leaving" I said giving a fake smile

Savannah rolled her eyes at me and gave us a weak smile, "yea... I'll get my mother. Nice to see you Evelyn" she said before leaving

I let out the breath I had been holding. Evelyn turned and began to eye me as her arms were crossed over her chest, "why were you so rude to her?" she questioned

"Darlin, I wasn't rude. Savannah is interrupting my work space" I argued walking back to my office

"Well, you never told me her sink was broken and you've been fixing it" she then added

My body stiffened as I was hoping she was going to ignore that part... since we had sex a month ago I feel like the tension we had before was eliminated. We've been really good lately and I don't want anything to affect that

"It was only once darlin... not something I thought had to be explained" I shamelessly said

This past week I've been pretty a-wall with things and I think Evelyn has been noticing. I just didn't know how to express some things to her and I was scared that if the truth came out she'd leave me. I sat down in my chair and pulled her into my lap, "don't worry about Savannah" I whispered before kissing her

Evelyn melted into me and wrapped her hands around my neck. This was better than anything I could dream of. She was perfect for me and everyday I felt myself falling in love... I felt bad for avoiding her this week but I had things to fix

But now having her in my arms I knew I couldn't loose her. Evelyn has been a rock since we met and I'm ready to become serious.  Our kiss became a bit heated and we both pulled away remembering we are in a work setting

"I can take Landon to nana's, so you can get work done " she said standing up

This was what I loved about Evelyn, she always cared about people and somehow always knew how to make you happy. She's been an extreme help with Landon as he's growing and becoming more active in sports and school. Savannah has been busy with her new job and with me waning to expand the store we've struggled with Landon but Evelyn came in like an angel
