Why Now?

Chapter 3

The Ninja returned from their long trip fruitless, literally. There was no 'travellers tree' and so there was no way to possibly get to the never realm and having a sure fire way to return. This meant their only option left was the staff of forbidden spinjitzu.

Of course no one would want to try it but, what other choice did they have?

"Now we're never gonna get Zane back. And all we've done is chase after a tree that probably doesn't even exist in the first place." Jay was always the first to complain when things went wrong. But no matter how hard he complained it never made things better.

They really had no choice, how else were they going to get to him and hopefully find a way to get him back?

"I can't believe I have to say it again but, sensei, we have to use the staff, it's our only chance at getting to Zane, we shouldn't have to make him wait any longer than he already has." Lloyd pointed out. He was right, Zane had been gone for a good 3 weeks now.

Knowing Zane, he would most likely be fine by himself, but he may be in more danger that they all realised. No one knows what could be in the never realm with him, not even Wu.

"It is far too risky, and we cannot risk losing you too in the process. We do not even have a foolproof way for you to return."

And Wu was also right. They couldn't just jump headfirst into unknown territory without an escape plan if things went wrong.

"Please Master, it's the only chance we even have" Lloyd pleaded once more, he really wasn't about to just give up on Zane.

". . . I will meditate on it." was all that Wu said before he left the bunker.

They were disappointed, obviously, but there's not much they could do. All they did really afterward, especially Jay, was moping and sulking around a little.

That's when Kai came up with an idea.

"Why don't we just try to steal the staff from Master Wu?" he proposed. The rest looked at him as thought he committed treason.

"WHAT!?!?? ARE YOU INSANE??!??" Jay practically screamed at the top of his lungs.

The rest questioned him too, all agreeing that he must've hit his head or something for him to suggest such a thing.

"Relax, calm down. We can just use stealth mode and sneak our way into his meditation room, sneakily grab the staff and sneakily get outta there." Kai explained, "You say it as though this was a game and we can toggle between crouch and walk with ease," Nya remarked.

"Can you come up with a better idea?" He retorted back at her.

"... No…"

"Stupi-"

"Are we really gonna just steal from Master Wu?" Cole interrupted.

"Well, it would not be wise. But if the staff is the only chance we have left, and we do not wish for Zane to wait any longer…" P.I.X.A.L commented.

Just as they were maybe thinking of stealing the staff from Wu, he returned from the meditation room, no staff in hand, but a panicked expression on his face instead.

"The staff is missing."

"WHAT"

"I fear someone has broken into the monastery and taken it."

"But that's impossible, the sensors detected no movement around the monastery. We would be alerted if otherwise. And nothing seems to be rummaged through or broken, or at least not due to an intruder." P.I.X.A.L went through the security cameras throughout the monastery to find no one.
