leyra's pov :

"i just wanted to see you, where you were going."

"neteyam i-, you can't, zaem and anoung will find us and think other things."

"who cares i mean!-"

"i care. now go, please."

"what is this cove leyra."

"the cove of ancestors; i'm here to see my, my mother."

"your mother? oh."

leyra's heart sank at his reaction, she didn't know why but she wished she met him on happier circumstances, not during this chaos of a day.

"is it hard for you?"
"to see her i mean."

"i can't say." leyra huffed, she was reminded of her dads words.

to them daughter, we reveal nothing.

"i'm not an idiot leyra."

"stop calling me that."

"what?"

"leyra, stop."

"why, it's your name?" neteyam stared at the girl dumbfounded by her reaction.

"neteyam, call me ley; please?"

neteyam giggled slightly before putting his hand on top of hers.

"okay ley it is."

she took him down to the cove, bringing a creature that would help him breathe underwater and showing him the place.

this is where i meet her.

neteyam shot her a confused look and she gave up signing to him.

i grabbed his arm and brought him to where the bonds could be made and by then he got the picture.

i held onto one and brought out my hair to create a bond, so finally i could see her, my mother.

neteyam held my hand through this, i didn't let go though

i didn't know why; but it felt perfect in that moment to be with him,

he felt like home.

i forgot about neteyam the moment i felt myself being taken to a different world.

"mother!"i screamed out to woman out at sea; she was always one with the ocean; one with the people. it helped me to remember where i was supposed to be.

home, with the ocean and with the metkayina.

"ley!" she called out running to me.

i wrapped my arms around her, whole heartedly taking her embrace in.

"nga yawne lu oer"
i love you.

tears welled up in my eyes as she said those words; i hadn't heard her voice in a long time.

"my daughter, my child, i missed you."

"i missed you too mother."

we sat silently by the ocean for a while, hand in hand.

"what's troubling you daughter?"

i giggled, "nothing; i just missed you, a lot."

"there's someone, new arrivals?"

i stared confusedly at my mother.

"who is he?"

"it's nothing serious! i've known him a couple of minutes m-"
