"Welcome, what can I get you?" You spoke in a blunt tone as you checked the screen in front of you, to prepare the next order.
"Hello to you too, Y/N," you heard a familiar voice, causing you to quickly look up and see your best friend Mason standing there with Ben and Trevoh behind him.
"Oh, Mase, you're here!" Your voice was excited as your face lit up just seeing that beautiful smile of his.
"Did you forget we were coming?" He chuckled at your reaction; your grin never failed to make his stomach flip a little.
"No, it's just been a long day; I seem to have forgotten the time." You chuckled, "you guys are watching Spider-Man right?" You asked him
"Obviously," he said, as it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"I'm definitely not surprised," you chuckled, knowing how obsessed Mason is with Marvel.
"You've seen it yet?" He asked curious.
"Nope, but tell me all about it later; I love spoilers," you told him, causing him to chuckle.
"Alright, love birds, are you done flirting?" Ben interrupted the conversation.
"Ha ha, very funny," you rolled your eyes at him, "what can I get you guys then?"
"8 medium-sized popcorns, please," Trevoh squeezed himself through the line. The three of you looked at him confused.
"What? I need it in case I get too excited and start throwing popcorn everywhere," he said, looking back at all of you.
"You're not getting 8 for yourself, Trev," you looked at him dead serious.
"Well, get me a large one instead then," he rolled his eyes at you, causing all of you to laugh at his desperation.
You took their orders and gave them their stuff so they could go watch the movie.
"When do you finish work?" Mason suddenly asked
"In like 3 hours, after your movie actually," you sighed, realising how long was actually left of your shift.
"Good, I'll take you home," he smiled.
"Oh, it's fine, Mase; I'll just take the bus like usual," you assured him.
"Don't be silly; it's a lot safer if I take you."
"Ok, thank you," you gave in; "enjoy the movie," you smiled at him before he winked at you and walked off to his friends.
God, that boy never failed to make you smile.

There were only two movies playing in the cinema this late at night, and it was pretty much empty in the lounge, and where you buy the snacks. You were standing all alone behind the desk, checking your phone, when you heard some shouting from far away.
"Y/N, where are you?!" You heard an aggressive voice call your name.
You stood up from your seat, your heart beating out of your chest. You looked around, and that's when you spotted him. The one person you had tried to avoid for weeks.
"Why are you never answering my calls?" Your psycho ex-boyfriend walked over to you, almost running to make sure you wouldn't run off anywhere.
"What do you want from me, Liam!?" You stepped back when he walked over to your side of the desk.
"Get over here," he grabbed your arm and dragged you away from the desk; despite trying to fight him back, he was too strong to loose his grip on your arm.
"What's your problem? We're done, what don't you get?!" You snapped at him.
"Don't you fucking dare raise your voice at me, it's not over until I say it's over, do you hear me?" he shouted with a harsh tone in his voice. He pressed you against the wall harshly, blocking your way out. He was standing so close to you, you could smell the alcohol he had consumed.
"Leave me alone!" You used your hands to try pushing him away from you, but once again you found it hard since he was stronger and bigger.
"Back off!" You suddenly saw Liam being pushed away from you; you quickly looked up and saw Mason standing there, at the same time you saw other people on their way out of the cinema room. Their movie had just finished.
Mason grabbed your hand and pulled you closer to him. "Ah, so you two are boyfriend and girlfriend now...I see how it is." Liam looked at the two of you. You could still see the annoyance and anger inside of him.
"Do you have a problem with that?" Mason stepped closer to him; the protective side of him had kicked in, but you didn't want him to do anything stupid, especially not with all the people walking out the building, so you held his hand tight, preventing him from taking another step.
"What's going on?" Ben and Trevoh quickly came over, looking confused.
"You're a pathetic little bitch," Liam pointed at you, looking at you with disgust.
"The fuck did you just say?" You felt Mason's hand pull away from your hold. He pushed Liam again, but this time Ben and Trevoh came in between and took their best friend away, somehow managing to send Liam off too while you took care of Mason.
"Mason, please calm down." You felt him tense; his hands had turned into fists, and his jaw was clenched.
"I thought you broke up with him!" he almost snapped at you. You knew that every time he felt angry, he found it difficult to control himself, so you weren't shocked at the angry tone in his voice at the moment.
He knew how badly Liam had treated you for the past year. He had been very controlling and abusive towards the end of your relationship, obsessed with drinking and surrounding himself with other girls. You had called Mason multiple times, ranting and crying about it, and in the end, he helped you realize what a mess Liam actually was.
Thanks to Mason, you didn't let love blind you anymore. You knew it wasn't safe for you to be in that relationship, and you left before things could escalate even more, but obviously Liam wasn't too happy with that.
The moment you left Liam, you and Mason had spent a lot of time together, like the old days. He was making sure you were ok while you were healing. He had been a good beat friend to you, like he's always been. And that was also the time you realized how safe and happy he made you—something you've never felt before.
For him, you were the most precious person in the world, and he wouldn't allow anyone to treat you badly; if they did, they had him to mess with, and it was not pretty. He was madly in love with you, he's always been, but when has it ever been easy for anyone to confess their love for their best friend?
"I did break up with him, but you know how he is," you said, looking at Mason, trying to shake off the scare you just had.
"Well, he better back off!" he said, angry.
"Come, sit," you dragged him over to one of the chairs. Ben and Trevoh gave the two of you a minute.
"I really appreciate how much you care about me, but please, don't do things that can get you in trouble," you told him as you kneeled down in front of him.
"He's still standing there." Mason completely ignored you and looked at the entrance. It seemed that Liam was waiting for you, not giving up, and a part of you was a bit frightened why he couldn't just leave you alone.
"Look at me," you ordered him with a serious tone in your voice that caught his attention.Your palms cupped his cheeks while the two of you looked deeply into the other's brown eyes. Both of you automatically leaned in, and in the matter of seconds you felt his lips on yours, and he felt your lips on his.
You both slowly pulled away, taking a look at each other again. "I've been wanting to do that for a while," you mumbled.
"I'm glad," he hummed; "I've also been wanting to do that for a while."
The two of you chuckled before Ben and Trevoh had to ruin the moment like always. "Ok, lovebirds, are you done eating each other's tongues?" Ben teased
You rolled your eyes at Ben, reminding him how single he was still, while Mason slowly looked back to where Liam had been standing before; it seemed like he had run off.
"He's gone." Mason looked back at you.
"Good," you smiled.
Mason smiled back, pulling you in for another kiss, which you quickly melted into. Never did you think this day would turn out to be one of your best days.
