Heyy all,

Promoting your book is not something simple. It sometimes takes months before your book gets discovered and people stick around.

There is a bit of a taboo on promoting your own creations, something that is actually nonsense. Companies use it without hesitation, there are studies for it and plenty of books written about it. Why shouldn't writers, no matter how small, be allowed to use it?

Social media is a popular way to promote books. Both Instagram and TikTok have their own hashtags. For Instagram: #bookstagram and for TikTok: #booktok.

I myself was never a user of these media to aim to recruit people until I was looking for a fun new book series outside Wattpad.

I ran across the ACOTAR series and fell in love. Since then, I started delving into this media with the aim of finding new books and raising awareness of my own.

My Instagram for writing tips, my books and me is in my bio or search @Darkybooks

Although I am just starting out, the use of social media is something that comes up a lot in my study. Therefore, here are some tips:

1: Write a catchy bio with something about yourself and what you do.
2: Make a clear plan with why and how you want to use that platform
3: Come up with at least five ideas about what you are going to post
4: Make your posts attractive with high-quality photos that suit you or your book
5: Use a readable font that matches your photos and does not blend into the background
6: Make your posts ahead of time and plan them with a content calendar
7: Post regularly at the same time
8: Use hashtags that match your content
9: Keep interacting with your followers (replying to their comments)
10: Put a link in your bio to where people can find your book
11: Be patient
