Jungkook pushed open the station doors and stepped inside, grateful to be out of the harsh elements. The warmth of the building was a welcome relief, and he made his way to the front desk, where he was greeted by a stunning lady who looked to be around the age of thirty. She smiled warmly at him and couldn't help but feel relaxed by her sweet demeanor. "How can I help you?" she asked, still smiling.

Jungkook returned the smile. "I would like to speak with Detective Guk Doo," he said politely. The lady's smile grew even more expansive, and she nodded understandingly. "Of course, I'll let him know that you're here. Please have a seat, and he'll be with you shortly," she said, gesturing toward a row of chairs along the wall.

Jungkook took a seat, and soon after, Guk Doo stepped out of his shared office with the sheriff seeing Jungkook. He was slightly taken aback and flattered to see Jungkook was there to talk with him. "You here to talk with me?" he asked, trying to hide his surprise.

From the way Guk Doo asked the question, Jungkook could tell that he was still new to his position and was not used to getting a lot of recognition or being asked to be spoken with. "Sorry to bother you, but I have to talk to you privately. It's urgent." Jungkook said, standing up.

Guk Doo nodded before motioning for the younger to follow him as he led the way to a nearby conference room. He would've talked to Jungkook in his office, but the sheriff being there wouldn't be much help.

Once inside, Guk Doo closed the door to the conference room and walked over to the windows, pulling the blinds closed to ensure privacy. He then sat in one of the conference room chairs and faced Jungkook, who had also taken a seat at the table.

He could sense the anticipation and nervous energy coming from the brunette, but he tried to project a calm and professional demeanor. "So, what is it that you wanted to discuss with me today?" he asked.

"Have you, by chance, heard about the violence and the destruction that gangs have been causing," he began. Guk Doo sat up in his chair, leaning forward as he listened to Jungkook confused. "No one ever notified me about this situation." The severe tone of Jungkook's voice had captured his full attention.

"They're hurting and threatening innocent people and causing chaos in the city," Jungkook continued. "But I can assure you that it's much worse than you can even imagine. How come you don't know this?"

"The sheriff told me he had a handle on the gangs in the city." The sheriff hadn't done anything about the gangs, which made Guk Doo furious. Why would the sheriff lie about something crucial? "Some of these gangs are after my friend and his family," Jungkook said, gaining a concerned look from Guk Doo, whose eyebrows furrowed in worry.

"What do you mean?" "Hwan borrowed money from different gangs, and now he's in debt to them, and the only way to pay it off is–" Guk Doo stopped Jungkook from finishing his sentence by standing up. "You tell me this now?!" "I didn't know if I could trust you, but you are the only one right now that will listen to me. So shut up and hear me out." Jungkook demanded, making Guk Doo stare at the younger baffled.
