I sat slumped back in Jordan's passenger seat, not really paying attention to whatever he and Spencer were talking about cause it had to do with the team and Spencer was just being pissy
"So let me get this straight? I showed up in your world and blew everything up? Sounds familiar doesn't it!?" Jordan argued as he glanced back to Spencer threw his rear view mirror

"Okay shut up! I invited Jordan over today. If you want to be mad at anyone be mad at me." I snapped as I turned to look at Spencer in the back "Of course you'd start feelin the coach's son." Spencer scoffed as he shook it his "Whatever Spence." I sighed in defeat as I turned back to the front, I was beyond tried. I just wanted to go back to the Baker's and sleep in my bed

The sound of sirens and red and blue lights caused me to quickly sit up straight, waking up as jordan pulled to the side "What the hell?" Jordan questioned as he squinted into the rear view mirror as the cop got out of his car "Put your hands on the dash." I quickly ordered him as I placed my hands on the dash board, in plain sight so the officers could see them but Jordan just chuckled "I didn't do anything." He shrugged causing me to give him a crazed look before me and Spencer shared a look

"Is there a problem officer?" Jordan questioned as the Officer stopped next to him "Licences and registration please." The cop spoke up causing me to slightly turn my head 117, Carter I drilled into my brain, every single time I came in contact with a cop since I was a kid I'd make sure I remembered their badge number and their name cause 99.9% of the time they did some racist ass shit "Why? I wasn't speeding or anything." Jordan questioned causing my eyes to widened was he seriously this stupid

"Jordan, give it." I spoke through gritted teeth "Be quiet." The cop ordered causing me to quickly shut up as my body tensed "You made an illegal right turn at a red light." The cop stated but was clearly lying we didn't even turn right since we left the field but there was no good to fight with a cop especially a white one in this neighbourhood
"What? How far back? What turn?" Jordan questioned as he started to move around

"Just listen to him Jordan." I whispered under my breath as I shared a look with Spencer again
"Just give him what he asked for." Spencer spoke up from the back seat as another cop got out of the car, making its way to my side of the car
"Please Jordan." I begged causing him to sigh before pulling out what the officer asked for

"What are you boys doing in this neighbourhood? And with a pretty girl?" He questioned as he glanced around at all of us "Are you serious right now? We've done nothing wrong man. This is harassment." Jordan pointed out which made my eyes widen even more, why the hell would he say that in front of a cop now they'll definitely do some fucked up shit

"My mom is a lawyer." Jordan explained as he turned back to the cop "Step out of the car please." The officer ordered causing my heart to drop "What!?" Jordan raised his voice "I need you to stop resisting and get out of the car." He ordered again, this time placing his hand on his gun "Get out of the car Jordan!" I panicked as my breathing started to go unsteady

"Okay.. I know my rights." Jordan spoke up as he slowly got out of the car before the cop ordered him to move to the side "I can not believe this. Just wait until my mom gets ahold of you big man." Jordan threatened causing the cop to quickly grab him, slamming him down onto the hood in front of me and putting him in cuffs

"Breath, just breath." Spencer tried to calm me from the back seat as I started to have a panic attack "Get out of the car." The other cop ordered as he placed his gun on his hand, looking between me and Spencer "Sir she's having a panic attack-" Spencer tried to explain but the cop just told him to shut up as they grabbed my hoodie, literally pulling my out of the car without even opening the door

"Please I-I'm not resisting." I started but again they didn't care, they were again abusing their power. I was quickly shoved onto the ground in front of Jordan before Spencer was shoved down next to me "Stop resisting!" They both shouted as they pulled their guns on us "Just keep looking at me alright?" Spencer spoke as he stared at Jordan while I just kept my face to the ground, wetting the pavement with my tears

"Are you guys okay?" Olivia questioned as she ran towards us, hugging into the three of us one at a time. Thankfully once Laura started threatening lawsuits they were pretty quick to let the three of us out of the holding sell without bond seems we quite literally did nothing

"How could you not go off on that cop?" Jordan questioned as he turned towards his dad "Why- why didn't you have my back?" He continued In pure range "I had your back. I got you home. Why would you even argue with a cop In the first place?" Billy questioned but I think we all knew the answer. I was 6 when Corey gave me the first 'talk'. Not the sex talk either, the your black, their white talk. He made sure me and Spencer would never be in a situation where we gave them a reason to kill us or beat on us

I don't think Jordan ever had that talk, I think Billy kept him in his little Beverly bubble. "I did what I was taught! I was standing up for myself okay dad?" Jordan defended himself before storming up over the stairs "I'll go check on him." Olivia spoke up causing me to quickly grab her arm "Let me." I offered before quickly running up the stairs after him

"Can you believe he's acting like it's my fault for sticking up for myself?" He scoffed the second I entered his room, I didn't know where to start this conversation so I just sighed, making my way over into his bed with him and cuddling myself into his side "The first time I ran into the cops I was 8. Me and Spencer were playing cops and robbers in the park when two cops came in... they pulled guns on me cause I had my toy gun out. Then again when I was 10, I was on my way to coops house cause I just got a new pair of Jordan's that I wanted to show her, they stopped me and claimed that I stole them just cause of the neighborhood I was in. The cop kneeled on me for 5 five minutes until his partner told him to drop it." I explained as my eyes started to fill up with tears

"I'm so sorry you had to go through that." He spoke up as he pulled me closer to his side but after a moment I sat up, wrapping my legs around his waist "Jordan did your dad never have the talk with you? I questioned in a serious tone "What talk?" He questioned which made me sigh loudly, knew it. "You need to have the talk with him... it should've happened a long time ago." I explained which I think made him start to connect the dots "When did you have the talk?"

"When I was Six. Every year like clock work my dad or Ms.James would sit us all down and give us the speech. Keep your hands where they can see them, talk slowly and calmly; never talk back and never curse or use slang, let them know every movement before you make it and no matter how scared you are never ever run." I listed causing Jordan to look down, it was actually crazy to me that he never heard any of this information in his life "Jordan no matter how rich you are or who your parents are they'll treat you however they want." I continued on, earning a small nod from him as he took in the information

"Put I need you to promise me..." I trailed off as I sniffled, grabbing his hand and holding them to my chest "If anything like that ever happens again do not talk back. I know you're gonna want to. You're gonna wanna beat their ass's, curse them out but you can't. You have to do exactly what they want you do and you just gotta try your best to go home." I begged as his eyes slowly moved up to me before he pulled one of his hands away to wipe my tear stained cheeks

"I promise." He quickly nodded before he pulled me down into his arms, I was still absolutely terrified and it was crazy to think we were actually lucky to just be harassed and tossed around. We could've easily been yet another black name on a protest sign because the police felt like it
