The Potions Master's Daughter (Book Two)

Chapter 4

I said bye to my friends and went down to the dungeons to his office. I let myself in and went over to where he was sitting at his desk.

"Hey," I greeted.

"Sorry for pulling you from your friends but I figured I should let you in on some information. You see I had a meeting with Dumbledore just this morning after breakfast before my first class. He has told me that 3 times a week you will be meeting with him and me to work on spells. An additional day you will work with just me on Dark Magic. He has told me that you are allowed to continue with your spell club if you wish with the same setup as last year."

I beamed, "Oh that sounds perfect. What days am I going to be doing what?"

He replied, "Monday Tuesday and Wednesday you will be with Dumbledore and me. Thursday you will be with just me. Then if you chose to, your club will be held on Fridays again. He didn't want to interfere with Quiddatch in case you wanted to play again this year."

I nodded, "Yeah I want to do the spell club again this year. It was a lot of fun last year. If I can make the team again this year I want to play Quiddatch again too."

He laughed softly, "Of course you'll make the team, you're the only reason the Gryffindor team was able to win at all last year."

I rolled my eyes, "Yeah sure you're just jealous that our team is better than yours."

He spread out his hands, "Of course."

"So what do you think will happen this year?" I asked.

"I don't know. I just hope it's nothing too bad," he said with a chuckle.

I nodded, "Yeah wouldn't that be wonderful?"

"Of course at this school nothing normal ever happens so I think we are hoping for too much"

I asked, "Do you know anything about this new class? The one Professor Lupin is teaching."

He scowled and said, "I just know that it is very similar to D.A.D.A. He'll probably mess up the entire class though so I'm sure it'll be as stupid as the actual Defense Against the Darks Arts class with be with Lockhart."

"Do you not like Professor Lupin? I understand why you would hate Lockhart, he's really stupid but Professor Lupin seems to know what he's doing. Besides he was really nice to me and Harry on the train. He gave us chocolate to help with the dementors."

"No I'm not fond of Lupin, childhood rivalry I suppose. But what dementors are you talking about? Were there dementors on the train?"

"Did you really not know this?" I asked with a slight laugh, "Yeah several dementors came onto the train. Apparently they were looking for Sirius Black, or at least that's what some kids are saying. Harry passed out from them and I almost passed out. Professor Lupin gave each of us some chocolate since it helps with the effects of dementors."

"No I hadn't been told that there were dementors on the train. Yes speaking of Sirius Black we need to talk about him."

I spread my hands and said, "Okay, go on."

"Well I'm sure you know that no one has ever escaped from Azkaban before so that's why this is such a big deal. I think I may know how he did it though. Black and I went to school together and I saw him change into a large dog once; he's an animagus. At the time Dumbledore swore me to silence and everything like that but that may have been how he escaped from Azkaban."

"Wait why did he make you stay quiet about it?" I questioned.

"I was getting there. So you met Professor Lupin on the train. He was friends with Black back in school. It was him, Black, Potter and a boy named Peter Pettigrew. Well they kept sneaking out every month. One day I followed them and I saw Lupin transform into a werewolf.  The others had become Animaguses to be with him during his transformation. I've told Dumbledore that since Black is out we should keep an eye on Lupin but he will hear nothing of it. I am quietly keeping an eye on him and I'd like for you to as well."

"Yeah that's no problem. Do you think Sirius Black will come to Hogwarts though? Why would he want to come here?"

"There is something else that you should know but you can't tell anyone especially Harry. Black was the Potter's secret keeper, the only one that was able to tell anyone where the Potter's were hiding. He was the one that sold them out to the Dark Lord. He's a huge supporter of the Dark Lord and wanted Harry dead. I believe that he may have come here to finish off the job he couldn't finish before; wiping out the Potters."

"Do you think he'll be able to get in and get to Harry?" I asked worriedly.

"I'm not sure. If he has help from the inside he might. That's why I'm keeping a close ewatch on Lupin but without Lupin helping him in, I cannot think of any way he would be able to get in. Hogwarts is one of the safest places on Earth. But people also said that about Azkaban and Black escaped from there so I'm not sure. We just have to be weary of what we do. If we fight against him and he doesn't die he could tell the Dark Lord that we were protecting Harry. I'm just saying we have to be careful about how we go about our business concerning Black. You can try to lead Harry to find out anything I just told you, but you can't just tell him, I'm not sure how that would go."

I nodded, "Okay. We will be extra cautious this year I guess."

He shook his head, "Yep. I'm not sure when but I know the Dark Lord will rise again. It could be very soon if Black gets his way."

I started for the door then stopped and turned around, "I want to thank you for trying to be nice to my friends, it really means a lot to me that you guys get along."

He gave me a small smile, "It's no problem I know it means a lot to you so I'll do it. But just remember how the rest of your life may go, you just want to be cautious."

I bobbed my head up and down, "I'm trying to be, and it's going alright. I promised you I'd make you proud and that's what I'm going to do."

As I walked out of his office I could've sworn I heard him say quietly, "I'm already proud."
