He hurried off and Ron said, "Okay that's great and all but what are you going to do to actually help Ginny?"
McGonagall shook her head, "I have no clue. We don't know where the entrance is, we don't know what the beast is and we don't know how to fight it."
"That's what we had to tell you ma'am," I said, "We know what monster it is. Hermione had figured it out, so we went to the books she had with her and the monster has to be a basilisk. Spiders are scared of it, which is what Ara-a friend said, and Moaning Myrtle is the girl who died last time and she says she saw yellow eyes before she died."
The other professors nodded as though what I said made sense, "We still don't know how to get into the Chamber of Secrets and although we've tried, no one knows who the heir to Slytherin is."
Defeated Harry patted Ron on the shoulder and said, "Ron they're going to do whatever then can to help but right now we have to talk to the rest of your family. You should be the one to tell them what's happened. Come on, we'll go talk to Fred and George."
Ron nodded obviously still in shock as Harry led us away. Instead of continuing straight to go to the Gryffindor common room he turned right and went to the D.A.D.A. classroom then up the stairs to Lockhart's office.
He was busily throwing things into a bag and it looked like he was fleeing, "Where do you think you're going?" shouted Ron.
"It seems as though something has come up, and I have to leave, immediately," he replied as he took down all the posters off the walls.
"You can't leave. You said you know how to help Ginny, you have to save her! You're supposed to be an adventurer, the best at fighting against beasts like the Basilisk."
"Yes I'm supposed to be, and I'm quite good at writing down those stories, because how good would they be if they were written by the real people who did those things? Some homeless woman from Australia? No one would read that."
"You're a fraud," I stated, "You've been lying about everything about your life for a while now."
"How do you not get sued?" asked Blake.
Lockhart suddenly turned around with his wand pointed at us, "There is one thing that I'm particularly skilled at, and that's memory charms. I can't have all these witches and wizards realizing that I took their stories so I simply take their memories with me, and now I'll take yours so that I can leave without getting myself killed."
I lazily waved my hand and his wand flew over to me, "You know if you had paid any attention at all to your students this year you would've realized that I can easily take on anyone in the school and win. I'm not scared of you and your pathetic little memory charms, but you should be terrified of me."
At the end he definitely looked terrified and said, "You're bluffing."
Seething I said, "I don't need you to believe me because frankly you're not worth it but I need to know if you know anything about Basilisks before we go."
He shook his head and said, "I encountered one woman who claimed to have faced a basilisk and she said the only way to kill one of them is to kill it with something forged by goblins or to try to stab it's orb of energy which is deep in their cave and they guard with everything they've got."
I nodded and said, "Fine, you can leave and flee but just know that we do intend on telling everyone about you."
As we walked away from him he suddenly lunged forward and took Ron's wand from his hand. He pointed it at us and muttered what must've been a memory charm. I wasn't going to be able to react in time but luckily I didn't have to. Ever since Ron had broken his wand it sometimes acted up and this time it caused the spell to fly not at us but at the caster. It hit Lockhart square in the chest and he fell down.
He looked unconscious and I knew when he woke up he wouldn't have any memory. I took some parchment from his desk and wrote Severus a note saying what had happened and sent it to him. By owl would be slower than sending my patronus which would give me enough time to hopefully find the chamber before Severus came to tell me not to.
As we walked out of the room I said, "Guys I think I know where the entrance in, and I think I know how to get in, follow me."
Without any further explanation I took off at a run towards the girl's bathroom and rushed in with the three boys at my heels.
I came to a stop in front of the broken sink, "I noticed this was broken the other day but the ones around it work. It's not even rusted so it should work. I think we have to say something in Parseltongue to get into the Chamber."
Harry nodded so him and I kept saying stuff in Parseltongue until finally the sink split away from the other sinks and sunk into the ground revealing a long tunnel so dark that I couldn't even see the bottom.
"What word opened it?" Blake asked.
I looked to Harry who must've been the one to open it and he replied, "I just said open and it opened."
I nodded, "Okay well let's go down."
"Like jump?" Ron asked apprehensively.
I shrugged, "Yeah I guess so. Severus has been teaching me flying without a broom and I'm pretty good so I'll go first and tell you guys if it's safe to jump or not."
They nodded so with a deep breath I launched myself into the air and then flew down to the bottom with only a few bumps. I landed on something hard and as I said lumos I realized they were bones. It seemed cushy enough to fall into though because they were all broken and brittle.
"Guys!" I shouted up, "You can come down. You'll land on some bones but I'm going to break your falls so it shouldn't be too bad."
First to jump was Blake and I was able to slow his fall enough that he was able to land actually standing up. Next was Harry and because it took a lot of power to cast this particular spell he landed on his back but he looked okay. Ron screamed a bit when he jumped and he landed a bit harder than Harry but not nearly as hard as he would've if he had just jumped without me casting a spell.
"Wands out," I muttered, "I have no clue what to expect and no clue how to battle this thing. I think we should do a diversion attack. First thing we have to do is to find Ginny and make sure she's okay. If we can get out without battling the basilisk we do that okay?"
I was taking on the leadership role but no one seemed to mind as Ron said, "That sounds perfect. But what if we do have to fight it?"
I sighed, "I'll create a diversion somehow and try to lure it as far away from its cave as possible and you three will go together and find the orb thingy and blow it up."
"What if we can't find the orb?" Harry wondered.
I shook my head grimly, "We don't have any choice. I don't know of anything in this castle that is forged by goblins so our only choice is to somehow find this orb of energy or life or whatever and kill it that way."
They nodded as we made our way over to a circular door with some snakes on it. I tried to push it but when it didn't open I said open in Parseltongue and suddenly all the snakes moved out of the way as though they had been working as a lock and the door opened.
