#13 Perfect Family

Regulus stood in the kitchen washing the dishes, his home was small but it was warm and cozy, the living room had soft cushioned couches and blankets, the kitchen was full of cute utensils and his son's drawings on the fridge. He watched the flowing white curtains blow through the frames as the spring breeze came through. He smiled at his husband, James, and their child, Harry, playing together in the backyard.

James was pushing Harry on the swing laughing at Harry as he put his arms out like a superhero, yelling at his dad to push him higher.

Regulus walked outside, the tea towel still hanging from his shoulder and scooped Harry up into the air as he came down, twirling him in the sky. James smiled and walked over, kissing him on the head and putting one arm around him and the other around Harry.

The three went inside and Harry crawled onto the couch waiting for his dads to come over. They sat together reading books for hours, enjoying each others company in front of the heat coming from the warm fireplace.

Regulus got up and held Harry, opening up one of the windows, James started pointing to different constellations when suddenly they saw a shooting star, Harry screamed in excitement and shut his eyes making a wish. Regulus closed his eyes and made a wish too.

They continued to look at the moon and the stars until Regulus felt Harry's breath soften and a small yawn was heard, they took him to his room and James placed Harry in his bed. Regulus kissed Harry goodnight and started to walk away to his and James' bedroom, the voice of James singing a lullaby fading into the background.

Moments later Regulus listened to the door close and James climbed into bed next to him, scooting up so Regulus' head could lay on his chest. James played with his husbands hair and kissed him before lying his head back and falling asleep. Regulus watched James' eyes flutter shut and before he knew it he had closed his own.

Regulus' eyes squinted open at the sound of a massive bang and glass being smashed, Regulus listened as Sirius and his mother continued to argue from downstairs, he looked around at his large, cold and dark room, "it was just a dream".
