Did not expect people to want a part 3 lmao but here you are, whatever ending I land on though this will maybe probably be the last part 🤷‍♀️

James' voice faded away as he grabbed Regulus' wand, pointing at Walburga and finishing the spell's incarnation. Regulus watched as the magic rebounded and his mother fell to the floor, the spell had worked against itself, neither killing James or Walburga but rather injuring them to a breaking point.

Regulus turned to James, his eyes fluttering shut as he dropped the wand, the spell haven taken all the energy he had left out of him. Regulus turned to his mother who lay on the stone flooring, her hand mere inches away from her wand, Regulus knocked the stick away and started to uncuff James.

Regulus would find somewhere, anywhere where he could hide away from everyone, he and James could escape to a whole new side of France, venture into the unknown together.

Regulus carried James up the stairs, apologizing constantly as James ached in pain. Regulus left his mother down there, he knew she would find the willpower to get her wand but she was knocked out enough for an escape.

Regulus and James eventually reached the gardens, Regulus stood in the icy breeze not sure of his next move then he looked to the mountains, that's where he'd go.

"James do you have anyone you love, family or friends you want to say bye to?"

"All my family is back in London Reg, please just take me somewhere, anywhere"

Regulus went round the side of the house and found a small sled he used to race Sirius on, he put James in the sled, made his way through the forest and started pulling him up the hills and through the iced rock. He covered James with his jacket as the snowflakes began to fall, they were no longer in the spring woods but rather on their way through the winter night trying to reach shelter.

Regulus came to a holt, tapping the stone until a small crack opened to reveal a secret passageway Regulus and Sirius had built throughout their childhood. Regulus heaved the sled between the stone walls, flinching as the narrowness cut him.

Finally they reached a room, a carved cave that Sirius had set with furniture and a fireplace, Regulus had never been happier for the existence of magic.

There was a sofa bed against one of the walls, a basket of blankets and pillows next to it and fashioned into the side of the cave was a place for a proper fire. The room had basic necessities for cooking and a small back entrance that had cleaning facilities. This place always reminded Regulus of the magical tent they used when they went to the Quidditch World Cup, it didn't look like much from the outside but the inside was more than enough.

Regulus lifted James up onto the sofa and smiled as James stared at the room in astonishment, never having seen something like this.

"Careful" Regulus rolled James onto his side so he could get a look at the wounds on his chest and arms. James stared at him gently and slowly took his shirt off so Regulus could see the damage she had done to his back, he watched Regulus' eyes go cold and void of emotion.

Regulus pulled out a first aid kit from under the couch, him and Sirius were often prepared for this type of thing considering they would find themselves tending to each other almost daily. It was remarkable Sirius had managed to keep his scars a secret for so long.

Regulus apologized for the sting as he slowly started to apply rubbing alcohol to the wounds and then apply pressure when bandaging them tightly so that no excess bacteria could enter.

James was truly trying his hardest not to cry but everything about this made his heart ache, the pain his felt was nothing to the pain he could see this had caused Regulus. He pulled out one of his hands and interlocked it with Regulus' free one, trying his best to hold back the tears as he smiled.
