3. Cats have a "third eyelid": Cats have a nictitating membrane, also known as a third eyelid, that moves horizontally across the eye from the inside corner. It helps protect the eye from injury and keep it moist. You may have seen your cat's third eyelid when they're sleeping, as it partially covers the eye.
