Ella was excited for the Christmas feast but she was still a little confused after her talk with Regulus.

On the one hand he told her to leave him alone, that's pretty much as clear as you can get.

but she really just wanted to talk to him more.

And then there was Fabian...

When she and her friends walked into the great hall Fabian spotted her immediately and waved them over.

"Hey merry Christmas" he said standing up looking around a bit awkwardly
"Merry Christmas" she smiled

"Saved you a seat" he told her
"If you want to sit with us"
"I'd love to" she said

Ella sat down next to Fabian and smiled at Gideon, the rest of her friends filling the table.

Gideon introduced her to Rachel the Ravenclaw keeper who was in his year.

"Did you guys have a nice time last night?" She asked the pair.

Gideon looked at Rachel and they shared a smiled
"Yeah we did" he said
"A really good time" she added

"What about you?" Gideon finally asked turning back to the others
"I did" Ella nodded

"Did you go with anyone?" Rachel asked
"No just a friend"
"Excuse me" Marlene butt in
"I was your date"

Ella laughed and shook her head
"My bad, I did have a date"
"Thank you" Marlene said crossing her arms.

When dinner was served everyone filled their plates up and dug in.

Gideon was going on and on about the next quidditch match and Rachel was listening intently.

Fabian however couldn't stop looking at Ella.

He couldn't help but smile when she smiled so widely her eyes got squinty. Her nose would scrunch up and her laugh, Merlin her laugh.

He sighed happily, what a merry Christmas.

January 1st 1975

It was the first day of the new term and Ella was rushing to make it to potions.

She ran down the hall her books clutched to her chest.

Slughorn would definitely take points away from Gryffindor if she was late.

She ran down the stairs and was almost to class when she nearly collided with Regulus.

"Watch it" he grumbled but instinctively reached out to steady her.

"Sorry" she said catching her breath
"Why are you running?"
"I'm late"

"For?"
"Potions" she said growing tired of talking
"So I've got to go or else-"

"You should skip" he suggested shrugging nonchalantly cutting her off
"Skip?"
"Yeah"

"And do what?" She asked
"Come spend some time with me"

Ella paused, she was caught so off guard. The last time they spoke he told her to leave him alone...now he wanted her to skip class to be with him?

"But you wouldn't skip would you?" He taunted
"You're a good girl"

"Fine" she said with a shrug
"I'll skip"

Regulus gave her an amused smile and motioned for her to follow him.

They walked all the way to the greenhouses and Regulus undid the lock on one of them.

Ella followed him inside and looked around
"I like to come here sometimes" he said watching her.
