When a Time Lord who calls himself The Nightingale crashes his TARDIS in the Emerald Forest, he decides to stay and help while he waits for his TARDIS to repair itself. When his TARDIS is repaired, he discovers that the engines aren't in the proper...
My team and I were being led by Professor Goodwitch, along with Team JNPR, and Team CRDL, through the forest of Forever Fall. It was full of red-leafed trees, which allowed the whole area to appear a dust-red color, even with the grass. It was actually quite beautiful. Goodwitch turned to all of us and said, "Yes, students, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sight-see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so."
We all stopped as Goodwitch held up a full jar of sap and continued, "Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!" We all separated to collect our sap, while making sure that we didn't get to far from our teammates. As I began to look for a tree to start filling my jar with, I heard a noise nearby that sounded like a weird mixture of groaning, grinding, and whirring. Curious, I headed in the direction of the noise and saw a blue box that was the same size as a phone box.

What confused me the most was that despite this "police box" being out here in the middle of the forest, it didn't have any dirt or vines on it. In fact, it seemed like it had almost a fresh coat of paint on it. Just then, I heard a voice say from nearby, "This is so awesome! The colors of the leaves give off the illusion that it's always the season of Fall. That is just so amazing!" I turned towards the source of the voice and saw none other than Nightingale standing nearby as he looked at the trees around him in awe.
I approached him and said, "Nightingale? What are you doing here?" He turned to me and said, "Oh, hello, Weiss. Ozpin mentioned that you guys were going on a field trip to this place, so I figured that I'd take the TARDIS for a spin and check this place out for myself." I looked at him confused, and said, "The TARDIS?" He nodded and said, "That's what my ship is called. It stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space. It's a time machine and a space ship. I parked it right over there." He pointed towards the police box and I said, "You're telling me that small little phone box is a time machine and a space ship?"
He scoffed and said, "Hey, don't mock it from its outer appearance. It only looks like that because the Chameleon Circuit is broken and I don't care enough about fixing it. I could take you on a trip in it and we could be back before anyone even notices that we left. I mean, if you want to." I thought about it and said, "You could take me anywhere on Remnant, to any point in history?" He nodded and said, "Anywhere and anytime, as long as it's on this planet." I smiled and said, "Could we visit the Kingdom of Atlas back when it was the Kingdom of Mantle before the Great War?"
He smiled and said, "If you want, then yes." I nodded and said, "I want to see what the Kingdom of Mantle was like before the War." He smirked and said, "Pre-War Mantle, alrighty then. Let's go." I followed him back to the police box and I stopped outside of it as he went in. He came back to the door and said, "Come on, what are you waiting for?" I took a deep breath before I followed him inside and gasped.
It was way bigger than I could've ever imagined. I stepped back outside and walked around the entire police box before I went back inside and said, "It's bigger on the inside! That is amazing." I turned to see Nightingale smirking as he said, "Hearing people say that never gets old. Like I said, it's alien technology, specifically Time Lord technology." He ran around the large round console-looking thing in the middle of the room, flipping different switches and levers as he did.
The entire room began to shake as I heard the groaning and whirring noise from earlier. I felt the room suddenly jolt hard, causing me to lose my balance. Before I could hit the floor, I felt someone catch me and saw that Nightingale had caught me. I felt myself blush lightly as he helped me onto my feet and he said, "Sorry about that, a TARDIS is meant to be piloted by a crew of six. This frequent bouncing in the Time Vortex is a result of me having to operate the ship single-handedly." I smiled and said, "That's okay. I did think of another question." He flipped another lever and said, "Oh, and what's that?"
I took a quick breath and said, "Why me?" He looked at me and said, "What do you mean? I thought I already told you that?" I walked over to him and said, "You did, but there's a part of me that keeps telling me that there's more to it than that." He sighed and said, "Well, you're right. But it's complicated and I'm still trying to figure it out. So until then, you're just going to have to trust me." I sighed and said, "Okay, Nightingale." He flipped one more lever and the engines stopped. He looked at me and said, "Weiss Schnee, I present to you, Pre-War Mantle." He opened the doors and I followed him outside. It was actually quite amazing. It looked like Mantle did now, but much more happier and full of life. It wasn't sitting in the shadow of Atlas, so the sunlight shone throughout the Kingdom of Mantle.
I turned to see Nightingale leaning against the TARDIS with a smirk on his face. He looked at me and said, "Well, come on let's look around for a bit." I just stared at him and said, "But we can't just talk with people, can we? Won't that rewrite history?" He shook his head and said, "Not if we're careful. Besides, time travel is like visiting Mistral. You can't just read the guidebook. You've got to throw yourself in! Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, get charged double and end up kissing complete strangers! Or is that just me? Okay, that last part was a joke. Besides who would even kiss an 18-year-old alien anyways, even if he is older than he appears? Nevermind that, I'm rambling again."
As we walked around the Kingdom of Mantle, I couldn't help but think about what he had said. If anything, it made me feel bad for him. Ever since I first met him, I couldn't get him out of my head. He seemed like he was used to being alone, but he didn't like it. After a while, we stopped by a restaurant and got a table. I looked at him confused and said, "Nightingale, what are we doing here?" He looked at me confused and said, "To eat food of course. That's what you do at restaurants isn't it. Or is that different here on Remnant?" I shook my head and replied, "No, it's the same. I meant why did you so easily agree to bring me here?" He sighed and said, "Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. Something about you, Weiss, intrigues me, and I don't know what it is." I felt myself blush lightly and said, "Well, you don't have to be alone anymore." He smiled and said, "Thanks, Weiss."
After we ate, we both heard a strange explosion followed by a strange robotic voice speaking nearby as it said, "Where am I? Explain! Explain! Warning! The Nightingale has been detected. He is the brother of the Doctor and must be exterminated!" Nightingale's eyes went wide and he said, "Oh, you have got to be kidding me. Not here, not now." I looked at him confused and said, "What is it? Nightingale, what is it?" Before he could answer, I saw a weird metal brown robot with a single eye come into view. Then Nightingale said, "I don't know how it got here." I looked at the robot, then back at Nightingale and said, "What is that thing?" He pulled me behind him and said, "It's a Dalek." The two lights on the robot's head lit up as it spoke and said, "Correct."
