Chapter 35 - New Power

All of a sudden, Marinette was in an open area and there was a glowing orb. Marinette reached towards it and it began to envelop her as the light surrounded her. She felt power running through her veins. 

She woke up with a start and saw that she was by herself. Her hands had energy radiating from them and her power was back. She felt different though and was able to control it. Marinette stood up with strength and looked at her arm. To her surprise, the burn was gone and she had no signs of any injuries or scarring. She wanted to squeal with happiness till she realized she wasn't free yet. 

She ran towards the door only to be stopped by a chain attached to her ankle. She pulled at it but it wouldn't come off. She didn't remember it there before and bent down to try and energy blast it off but that didn't work either. Hawkmoth entered the room and noticed Marinette trying to get the chain off. He was surprised to see that she was also glowing with her newfound powers. He walked over and Marinette desperately tried to break the chain again but it was no use. She was trapped. He grabbed her shoulders and power rushed into him and he jolted back. 

"How did you?" He said in shock. Marinette looked up at him with a scowl. 

"Please don't touch me." 

She said shrinking away and sitting herself on the ground burying her head in her knees. Hawkmoth pulled out a ring of keys and bent down to unlock her ankle chain. When it fell offMarinette readied to sprint and he grabbed her leg flinging her to the ground. 

"You think I'm not expecting you to run?" He said. He grabbed her by the waist and flung her over his shoulder. "You're coming with me!" He said holding her in place as she kicked and struggled. 

He brought her to the room Felix was being held and opened the door. He was surprised to find Adrien, Alix, and Felix freed and standing in fight position. Hawkmoth chuckled and placed Marinette in front of him. Adrien gasped as he pulled out a sharp knife and held it to her throat. 

"Surrender or I'll kill her." He said.

 Adrien, Felix and Alix looked at each other and then put their hands up. Hawkmoth then pushed Marinette down and got ready to kill her when a gunshot rang out from behind them. It hit him and he fell down on top of Marinette and she crawled out with blood stains on her dress. She looked where the shot had come from and saw the silhouette of a woman. She stepped out from the shadows and it was Emilie Agreste. 

"So good to see you again Marinette. I couldn't have you killed could I?" She said in an angry tone. Marinette didn't like Emilie and scowled. 

"She's not alone either." Said another voice from behind Emilie. "Glad to see me Marinette? Its been a while hasn't it." Gabriel Agreste said with a smirk on his face. 

Marinette gasped and ran to Adrien's side and held onto his arm. They were all backed into a corner with nowhere to go. Felix glanced at Marinette  and gasped when he saw she seemed to be glowing and had no more scars or injuries. 

"Felix, Adrien seize Marinette and come with me!" He commanded. They both looked at each other and then back at Gabriel. "Do it!" Gabriel demanded clenching his fists. 

"I don't think so, father." Adrien said. "We no longer work for you." Gabriel growled then looked at Felix. 

"What do you have to say for yourself Felix? You don't have powers and working for me is what you are made to do." Felix seemed conflicted. He looked at Gabriel and then at Marinette. 

"As Adrien said, I no longer work for you Father." He said. 

"Very well."Gabriel said and he moved in to take them all. Adrien and Felix fought to protect Marinette as she stood in a corner clenching her eyes shut.
