Chapter 26

Chapter 26: The hunt's first mission (part 1)

      After being weirded out by the little vigilante, Jonas decided to distance himself from the stabby child.

[ The Web is amused by the Arhivist's reaction ]

' Come on! I don't want to have my head chopped off from my body! '

If the little vigilante did that, there was a chance that he would end up dead. He knows that a stab in the heart wouldn't kill him but what would happen if his brain was separated from his body?

[ Jonas Cane, possessed by the current avatar of the eye would die if the eye is destroyed or separated from his body ]

Oh? So the brain isn't important?

Jonas was a little relieved and a little disturbed that a pair of eyes were more important than the brain.

But Jonas should expect it. The Entities worked in different ways. And as their developing avatar, he was different from humans.

While he distances himself away from the stabby child, Huntress finally finished whatever she was doing with his classmate Bethany.

" What are you doing to him? Put down your sword. He's a civilian. "

" Tt. "

After being reprimanded, the stabby child put the sword back on its sheath. Jonas decided to remain in the background by sitting back on one of the chairs again and letting the Vigilantes do the talk.

" Why did you not report him to Oracle? "

" I was interrupted by the people suddenly becoming unconscious. I was distracted. Why didn't you report the child? "

" How's their heartbeat? Are all of them dead? "

" No! Their heartbeat's fine and back to normal. They aren't in danger of dying of fright anymore. Strangely, this new dose of fear gas is less dangerous. "

He knows that despite talking to each other, they were keeping watch on him.

" It wasn't confirmed that the people being unconscious was a result of the new dose of fear gas. "

" Then what do you think of this? It wasn't evidence for you? "

Huntress gestured to the people. Before Damian could retort, Oracle interrupted them through the communicator.

" Unfortunately Huntress, Little D is right. The other victims of the new dose of fear gas in Gotham didn't show any signs of being unconscious. "

Huntress narrowed her eyes at Damian when she noticed that the little gremlin was smirking smugly at her.

While the two are still talking, Jonas who was watching them and starting to ignore his presence despite looking creepy in the dark was getting bored.

' Vigilantes are indeed different from normal people. They don't get easily scared. '

Suddenly, he receives a message from the Archivist System.

[ The hunt says that if the little Archivist is bored, then the Hunt has a mission for him ]

[ The Web and End is surprised by the Hunt ]

' Oh? '

[ The Hunt wants you to bring back the Scarecrow to Arkham Asylum. Do you accept?

<  Accept >        < Reject > ]

A smile creeped out of Jonas when he receive the mission. Bringing his hands together, he chuckled and accepted the mission.

[ The Hunt for Scarecrow mission is accepted. ]
