*Ciel's POV*

We continued painting the roses red, as more time went on I saw that Deuce and Grim were beginning to struggle. While Ace continued to complain as he was painting the roses but seems to be getting tired. I was also beginning to get tired as well but I didn't let it get to me since I didn't want to make a mistake. As for Cater, he didn't look like he was tired at all despite the many times he was using his magic.

"Red... Red... BAM! Wh-whoa! it turned blue?!" Deuce questioned in shock as his magic turned the rose's color to the wrong color.

"Change, o foul color! Change! AHA!" Grim used his magic, which made the rose be on fire.

"BWAH! The rose caught on fire!" Grim panicked as he didn't know what to do

I quickly ran over to Grim's area and grabbed the rose before throwing onto the ground and stomping on it. Which, put out the fire as I sigh in relief as I look at the damage Grim made, luckily it was only one rose. Cater and Ace watched on as the chaos had ensued as I stand next to them after I finished painting my area.

"Wow. You're even less competent than I thought." Cater said with a sweatdrop

"Yo, maybe you should just leave the roses white! They look perfectly pretty 'n stuff to me." Ace suggested

"Yeah, I don't get why you need to paint them unless it's part of that tradition thing you were talking about earlier." I stated to Cater as he nods

"That's right, Ciel. It's a matter of tradition. You can't have an unbirthday party without the roses being red. And you can't play croquet without seven-colored flamingos as mallets and a hedgehog for a ball." Cater explains

'Based on the names, I can guess that flamingos and hedgehog are animals. But it's weird to use animals as sport like that... By the way, what's a hedgehog?' I thought to myself

"Oh, but of course, the roses need to be white when the garden flowers put on their spring concert. That's absolutely crucial." Cater stated

"All your rules are completely insane!" Grim said with a deadpanned look.

"Not just insane, but also very confusing..." I said as I was rubbing my head

"They say the Queen of Hearts made up these rules herself- she was one of the Great Seven, you know. And Riddle is all about tradition. Probably more than previous housewardens, T-B-H." Cater explains before rubbing his neck.

"I'll admit that he's, well... a bit extra." Cater said as he looks at Ace's collar.

" I think 'a bit extra.' is a stretch there." I said with an awkward smile

"Yeah, no kidding. I sure don't have time for this nonsense. Is Riddle here? I gotta talk to him." Ace asked as he didn't want to deal with this nonsense anymore.

"Yeah, probably. But are you sure that's wise? Did you even bring an apology tart to replace the one you ate?" Cater asked Ace as he flinches

"Why does Ace need an apology tart?" I asked in confusion

"Uh, no...? I came here first thing in the morning!" Ace stated

"Ah ah ah... That could be a problem." Cater stated before he began to explain

"Have you forgotten rule 53? 'Stolen items must be replaced.' If you're not in compliance, I can't let you in." Cater explained to us

"I see, so that's why Ace needs to bring a tart!" I said as the rule now made sense to me.

"Are you serious?!" Ace asked in shock

"All dorm residents must obey the rules. If I let you slide, it would be off with my head next! I hate to say it, Ace, but I'm gonna need you to leave before Riddle spots you. Thanx." Cater stated

"I... think this guy is for real. You guys, do something!" Ace said to us

"Why should WE do anything?" Deuce said

"I don't think that's a good idea, Ace." I said unsure about the situation

"C'mon, please! I can't use magic! Hurry, he's-" Ace was cut off

Cater sent some magic towards Ace as Deuce quickly counter the attack with some of his magic since Ace can't defend himself. Grim and Deuce began to fight back as I was making sure that Ace was okay. I then looked at the battle to see that Deuce and Grim were throwing everything they have at Cater, but it looked like it was doing nothing. Cater was hit so many times but looked okay as he used his magic attacks on Grim and Deuce. And just as quickly the battle started, it ended so quickly as Deuce and Grim were on the ground tired as Cater just smiles.

"Do make sure you bring that tart next time, m'kay? Buh-bye now!" Cater said as he used his magic to kick Ace, Deuce, and Grim out of the maze while he led me to the exit.

I watched as the gates to the maze closed behind me as Deuce, Ace, and Grim began to get up while groaning. I didn't know what to say in this kind of situation and the results of the battle as I began to thinking. Despite the many times that Cater got hit, it seems that he wasn't hurt at all despite the different attacks laid on him. I wondered how he was still standing and didn't look tired at all, while Deuce and Grim looked like they were gonna pass out.

"Was that guy for real?!" Ace asked in shock

"We hit him over and over, but he just kept coming. Maybe he was using some kind of illusion magic?" Deuce suggested

"Maybe, I was watching the fight and saw that no matter how many times you hit him, it was like he wasn't being hurt." I stated as I was rubbing my forehead.

"So lemme get this straight: we walked in there, totally tartless, but this dude still made us do that whole song and dance before throwing us out?" Ace summarized

"Pretty much." I answered as Ace growls

"He just wanted to make us paint his stupid roses!" Ace yells loudly as I cover my ears

"We sure look like a bunch of chumps." Grim said with  a deadpanned look.

"I guess we'll just have to get an apology tart and come back. Maybe after class, we can- Oh no!" Deuce freezes as we look at him, he began to panic.

"What's wrong?" I asked

"We already missed the first bell! We're gonna be late for class!" Deuce stated as we all began to panic.

"Why didn't you say something sooner?!" I asked him

"Myah! I don't wanna get a blemish on the first day of my glorious Night Raven education! Shake a leg, chumps! To the classroom, pronto!" Grim shouted

"Hey, so what class are you guys in, anyway? You're freshmen too, right?" Ace asked

"I don't remember, I haven't memorized my schedule yet... Do you remember, Grim?" I said as I look at Grim

"The headmage said we're in Class 1-A!" Grim informs me as he got on my shoulders

"Hey, that's the same one I'm in. We got Potionology for first period." Deuce informs us

"Oh ho, yeah! That sounds awesome!" Grim cheered

"M-maybe I don't need magic for that?" Ace questioned in a hopeful tone.

"Worry about that WHEN we get there, Ace! We need to hurry!" I shouted at him

We all began to run to our class in hopes that we can still make it as we don't want to get into trouble with the teacher. Despite the slight chance that I've never been to a school before, I do know that a student can get in trouble if their late. And I don't plan on being the kind of students that is late all the time, I do not want the teacher to think that I am. Not now and not for the rest of my damn bloody life!

'I hope the teacher isn't there already!'
