Haymitch and me left the Presidential Palace.
Effie was waiting outside.
"I couldn't let you go without a proper goodbye."
She sighed.
With a tearful smile, Effie hugged me.
"It's your job to take care of yourself now, Katniss."
Her wistful gaze flickered over me.
"Promise me you'll find it."
"Find what?"
"The life of a Victor."
"Goodbye, Effie."
"Goodbye, my girl."
We hugged again.
I moved aside.

"Effie, don't be a stranger."
I kissed her on the cheek.
I kissed Effie on the lips.
"Take care of her."
"I will."
I stepped away from her.

Haymitch and me trudged through the snow.

I pressed my lips together tightly.
I fought to stay composed.
I blinked back tears.
I sighed.
I lifted my chin.
I wiped a tear.

Haymitch and me sat across from each other on the train.
