Hope couldn't sleep, pacing the room the entire night unable to contain her excitement to finally see her dad in person again

She was the one who managed with Freya's help to rid the world of the hollow using a rare dark object

Yet one thing stayed on her mind

Josie

She knew she'll miss her greatly, she felt out of place asking her to come with her especially knowing the way her family won't stop teasing her

She'd confessed her crush on the Gemini witch to her mother and aunt Freya since she was closest to them for years

Headmistress Caroline offered to give her a ride which as surprising as it was to hope she agreed with a smile

" So what's bothering you?"

Caroline's voice pulled hope out of her racing thoughts

" Oh, nothing i just really hate country music "

The vampire laughed turning off the radio

" Your dad does too, sometimes it disturbs me how alike you two are "

Hope contemplated asking if there's something going on between her dad and Caroline but decided against it in fear of making the rest of the ride awkward

Hope knew her mom had a thing for Elijah and Jackson before but knew nothing of the nature of her parents relationship

But she knew they'd burn the world for one another

As do the Mikaelsons

But she also knew of all the letters Hayley constantly wrote her father, despite him not reading any of them

She also noticed the way she jumps to his defense whenever she'd complain about how he doesn't care about them, how he abandoned them

Or how she cried whenever the letters she sends him were returned

So she thinks her mom might feel something more for him, more than she'll ever let on

"how's Josie"
The witch asked looking out of the window

" Oh you know, she's still recovering from that terrible cold but she'll be fine and I'll tell her you asked"

" Please don't "

" Why, is everything alright?"

Hope adjusted herself awkwardly in her seat

" It's just... Things are a little complicated "

The vampire sighed before replying

" She won't tell me what's going on with the two of you either but trust me it's best if you talk it out "

Hope simply nodded and turned on the radio unable to handle the awkward silence

He woke up to find Hayley getting two blood bags out of the fridge, she tossed him one before taking her seat

Even with her messy hair and slightly puffy eyes she was still the prettiest sight to wake up to

" So, i hope you slept well "

She said pouring blood into her coffee

" It was bearable unlike whatever the fuck this is "

He pointed towards the blood bag and she scoffed

" Well that's unfortunate for you but i prefer blood bags over hunting down innocents "

He raised his eyebrows in mockery

" You've grown soft, don't tell me you're trying to be better for your boyfriend"

That's when she threw the blood bag at him and he gave her an amused smirk

" I forgot how annoying you are "

" Well that's unfortunate for you because i have eternity to constantly remind you "

She smiled, the idea of having Forever with him made up for all that's been lost the last decade

" And no, it's not about Declan, i guess ever since hope came along i felt the need to do better she's been the only good thing in my life for years, and she's good Klaus, too good that I'm afraid I'll ruin her "

Hearing her voice get Shaky, he moved his seat closer to hers and took her hands in his own

" And for the longest time you and our daughter were the only good thing in my life, you've done a great job raising her even with me out of the picture which is probably the reason she turned out so good "
His grip tightened
" And you're never gonna ruin her, that's my job anyway "

He added with a smile and she laughed

" I can't imagine how hard it must've been on you, to stay away from her, from everything and i don't blame you i want you to know that "

He was about to say something when his phone rang, once Hayley noticed Caroline's name she pulled her hands from his grasp in a hurry

He shifted awkwardly in his seat before leaving the room to answer the call

" Hey! I called to tell you that we'll see you in fifteen minutes, i stopped for gas and hope needed to buy something"

She was silent for few seconds before adding

"Actually, i just wanted to tell you I'm staying at Homewood suites if you want to swing by "

He sighed deeply as he replied

" Alright then Love, I'll see you"
