probably because my dad had tied a blindfold around my head and was leading me down to the 'surprise' he made for me. i had no idea what it was, but it took up the entire second basement of the avengers compound.

"i don't understand the point of this," i said as my dad pressed the button for the elevator.

"you're just annoyed you can't see the thing," my dad rolled his eyes. "you'll see the present soon."

"why can't i know what it is?" nico complained. "it's not like i'm gonna tell her."

"if i tell you right now, minnie will hear too," i could practically hear my dad rolling his eyes. "just wait like a few seconds. you guys will see what it is."

the elevator dinged, and nico got out, gasping.

"woah," he said, sounding like a little kid at a candy store. "this is epic."

"huh?" my dad nudged me. "what do you think, minnie?"

"i've still got the blindfold on, dad," i reminded him.

"oh, right!" he untied the blindfold, ushering me out of the elevator.

i blinked, my eyes taking a second to adjust to the light. when they did, i grinned, my hands flying to my mouth to hide my squeal of delight.

"oh my gods, this is amazing!" i threw my arms around my dad, pulling him in for a hug. "thank you, thank you, thank you!"

dad laughed, "well, considering you were busy on your quest and everything recently, i realized you hadn't skated in way too long. there used to be a time when you wouldn't have gone longer than a week without skating. i know you miss it, minnie."

my dad had transformed the second basement of the compound into an full-sized skate park, filled with ramps, half-pipes, handrails, bowls, and so many other features. the park was plain, simple graphite, but i was already imagining how to spray paint it with different designs.

i wanted the sun from tangled right in the center.

"you're the best," i hugged my dad once more, before grabbing a skateboard from the skate shed and gearing up. i looked at my dad and nico, "what're you two waiting for? c'mon!"

dad protested, but at mine and nico's puppy eyes, he gave in, heaving a sigh.

"if i break something, i'm suing you guys," he mumbled, pulling his elbow pads on.

"you can't sue your child or grandchild," i said in a faux-serious tone. dad mimicked me in a funny voice, which made everyone laugh a little.

nico had picked out a sleek black skateboard, with a yellow rim on the edge. he grabbed black knee pads and elbow pads, gearing up to skateboard.
