While James rounded up the rest of the Gryffindor quidditch team, Mallory and Sirius walked to the quidditch pitch to save seats for everyone. It was colder than Mallory had anticipated. She crossed her arms over her chest, trying to trap the heat of her body.
"Cold?"
Mallory looked up at Sirius as he watched her. "No. I'm boiling," she remarked.
"Go find a spot in the stands, I'll be up in a second," he told her, nodding his head toward the bleachers.
Mallory nodded, leaving him behind as she ascended the stairs to the bleachers. She scanned the empty seats before taking a seat near the front.
A few minutes later, Sirius sat beside her, draping a leather jacket around her shoulders. "It'll go nicely with your bell-bottoms," he told her. Mallory looked down at her maroon jeans. It did look good with the maroon. She pulled her arms through the holes. "Better, princess?" Sirius questioned with a smile.
"Yes. Thank you," Mallory replied with a small smile as she turned her gaze to his.
"If you're still cold, I can wrap you in my arms and kiss—" he started.
"Sirius!" Mallory laughed as she smacked him.
Sirius roared with laughter, wrapping Mallory in a hug. He was warm. Mallory didn't make any attempt to get out of his grasp. Instead, she found herself leaning into him.
"Now imagine my soft, warm lips," he whispered into her ear.
Mallory pulled away and looked up at him, unamused. "You're not kissing me."
Sirius smirked at her. "Your mind will change eventually."
Mallory stared at him, shocked by his confidence.
"Everyone falls in love with me. It's a part of life," he added nonchalantly.
"Your ego is too big."
"Not possible."
"I'm staring at proof that it is."
Sirius grinned at her, pulling her into his side as she laughed. "Admit it, Mals. You're madly in love with me. I thought you were different."
Mallory playfully shoved him away, her smile stretching across her face. "You're obnoxious," she stated.
"But you love me," he insisted.
She laughed softly and leaned into his side as his arm looped around her shoulders once again. "No. I—" she started, tilting her head to his.
Sirius leaned in close to her, lips puckered.
"Sirius!" she exclaimed, shoving him away before his lips could meet hers. Sirius roared with laughter, falling onto his back on the bench. He held his stomach as he wheezed.
James plopped himself into the spot between Mallory and Sirius. Mallory looked from James to Sirius. The only other girl on the quidditch team took the seat on Mallory's side. Mallory smiled at her quickly before returning her attention to Sirius, still oblivious that they had been separated.
"Oi! That was my seat!" Sirius protested, glaring at James.
"You weren't in it," James replied, craning his neck as the two quidditch teams walked onto the quidditch pitch.
Sirius's gaze flickered to Mallory longingly. "Prongs, come on, mate," he complained.
"The game's about to start, look," James stated, nodding toward the pitch as every player kicked off the ground. "Look at Hawksworth."
Sirius looked at the quidditch pitch. Mallory did too. Avery Hawksworth was flying around the pitch, his underwear on full display as he leaned forward to pick up speed. Sirius let out a laugh.
