"Wake up, Mals! You're going home today!"

Mallory groaned as Sirius bounced on the bed, shaking her by the shoulders.

The door creaked open.

"Is Mallory awake?" Lily called.

"Yes," Mallory muttered, pushing Sirius off of her.

"Evans!" James yelped as he emerged from the bathroom.

"Potter."

A grin crept across James's face.

"Should I wear white, black, or red Chucks, Lilyflower?"

Lily tilted her head, glancing over his outfit.

"Black," she said. "Why? Who're you trying to impress?"

He winked.

"Only you."

Sirius glanced at Mallory. "You just have to get through classes, then you're headed home," he remarked.

Mallory groaned, rolling over and burying her face in the pillow.

"I get to go with you!" Sirius added, beaming.

She peeked at him. "It's going to be a long day," she said, her voice muffled.

"But it'll be fun!"

"Mal, we need to go to our dorm. You still have to get dressed and finish packing," Lily stated before Mallory could respond to Sirius.

Mallory sat up with a groan. "Coming," she muttered.

She glanced at Sirius, sending him a small smile before standing and hurrying after Lily.

After classes, Mallory and the boys set their plan into motion—it was time for Mallory to go home. Sirius led her through the corridors without a word, his attention fixed ahead.

Eventually, he came to a halt, peering around the corner.

"She's following Pete," he whispered.

Several seconds passed before he gently slipped his hand into hers.

Mallory's cheeks flushed, and her stomach knotted at the warmth of his touch.

"Let's go," Sirius said, rounding the corner.

"Wait up!"

Mallory's gaze snapped to Sirius as he spun around, brows furrowed.

"Prongs? What are you doing here?" he asked.

Mallory glanced over her shoulder as James ran to them.

"You're supposed to be distracting Minnie."

James waved him off. "I know, I know," he said breathlessly. "But I'm coming with you two."

"The hell you are!" Sirius exploded. "Prongs, we had a plan for a reason."

"I want to go."

Sirius glanced at his watch and pulled Mallory into McGonagall's office. "You're not coming, Prongs. We had a plan," he insisted.

"I want to help!"

Sirius spun to face James, eyes narrowed.

"You were helping! You were supposed to keep McGonagall away from us!" Sirius exploded. "And you might've just fucked everything up!"

"I didn't fuck up anything! I got Mary to fill in for me!"

Sirius's jaw dropped. His eyes bulged. "You what? Are you bloody mental?"
