"What?" Mallory stared at Sirius, brows furrowed as her eyes searched his for an answer.
"Prom. Will you go with me?" Sirius asked again.
"What prom?"
"The one I told you I was going to throw for you," Sirius replied like it was obvious. Mallory had completely forgotten. She assumed he had too.
"You're throwing a prom?" Mallory questioned, feeling the butterflies erupt in her stomach as a smile spread across her face once again.
"Yeah. For you. In an hour."
"An hour?"
"Yeah, I was supposed to tell you earlier, but Remus was being a prat because I won the votes for taking you to prom," Sirius told her casually. Mallory grinned at Sirius and wrapped her arms around him, looping them around his neck. "Is that a yes?" Sirius whispered in her ear, his hot breath tickling her neck as he pressed his mouth to her ear.
"Of course, honey," Mallory replied, pulling away from him, letting her hands fall down his arms, taking one of his hands in hers.
"Well, come on then," Sirius said, starting to run off.
"Wait! It takes me a second to start running! And I won't be very fast!" she called to Sirius who stopped and looked back at her. "My legs are exhausted from that awful workout James made me do." Sirius pursed his lips in thought for a solid half a second before squatting down slightly and having her hop on his back. "I can touch your hair." She grinned down at him.
"I don't mind," he replied, looking up at her and matching her smile. Mallory rested her head on his shoulder, gently playing with the ends of his hair while Sirius briskly walked up to Gryffindor Tower. The two didn't talk the entire time, but it was nice. A comfortable silence.
Sirius dropped off Mallory at the bottom of the girls' dormitory stairs. He placed one last kiss on the top of her head before letting her go. She ran up the stairs quickly where all four girls were waiting with excited grins.
"Put this on!" Lily immediately exclaimed, holding up a light pink dress. Mallory stared in complete awe. It was the most beautiful dress she had ever seen in her entire life.
"Who paid for this?" Mallory asked as she slowly took it from Lily's hands, feeling the lace on the bodice.
"The boys did," Marlene told Mallory, walking over with a smirk. "Although, I'm pretty sure that Sirius paid for the majority of it." She winked at Mallory, making Mallory's cheek flush.
"It looks like a princess dress," Mallory stated. The bodice was lace embroidered with white flowers. It had poofy sleeves littered with stray flowers and the neckline was scattered with small pearls. The details were so intricate and incredibly beautiful. The fact that they had gone through all the trouble to get it made Mallory want to cry.
"Well, it's a ball gown," Marlene stated simply.
"Hurry and change, Mal," Mary ushered, pushing her into the bathroom. Mallory changed into the gown quickly and looked in the mirror. She had never felt more beautiful than she did in that moment, and it only grew as she stepped out of the bathroom. The girls all gasped at her and grinned brightly.
Lily curled Mallory's hair as the others changed into their gowns. Then, Marlene walked over to Mallory in a maroon gown and did her makeup. Marlene's gown was much plainer than Mallory's but on Marlene, it was absolutely stunning. It hung off her shoulders. Mallory (secretly) had never been a huge fan of her winged eyeliner, but with Marlene's dress, it looked amazing.
Alice was wearing a simple purple gown with thin straps. She looked absolutely stunning as she turned to face Mallory. Her hair was straight and long, her bangs pinned back. Mary came into view soon with an emerald green gown as Marlene continued Mallory's simple makeup look. Mary's gown was much different than the other girls. She had a very low v-neck and a large slit practically up to her hip.
"Reckon I'll end up in Benjy's bed tonight?" Mary asked. Marlene cursed loudly as she jerked slightly, messing up Mallory's makeup. Mallory stared at Mary wide-eyed as Alice snorted.
"I don't think you had to dress like that to ensure that," Alice assured Mary. "He's practically in love with you."
"Yeah, aren't you two together?" Mallory asked as Marlene fixed her makeup.
"Yeah, but I still have to dress sexy so he doesn't do anything dumb. Showing up like this, any boy there would gladly let me in their bed. If he messed up, I've got options and he knows it."
"Merlin, Mare," Marlene grumbled. "Do you always need to sleep with someone at a party?"
"Benjy and I are practically a couple. It's normal that I want him in my pants," Mary stated as she pulled on her heels.
Lily stepped out of the bathroom. Her gown was the most similar to Mallory's with laced flowers for the top of it. She had thick straps for sleeves, revealing her freckled shoulders. She grabbed a necklace off her nightstand and put it on. She grabbed a pair of small heels from under her bed and handed them to Mallory before grabbing her own.
The five girls finished getting ready and hurriedly left the dorm. They made Mallory wait for a few minutes before they allowed her down to the Common Room. As Mallory descended the stairs, her eyes immediately locked on Sirius. He was in a grey suit and his tie matched the shade of Mallory's pink dress. Something about him in a suit made her almost lose her balance. He looked hot.
And his eyes were on her.
