Waves were splashing, seagulls softly chirping in the background. I closed my eyes, lying down in the warm sand, as free as I've ever been.

Sun was setting and a cigarette between my lips as I took it with my index and middle finger, slowly blowing out smoke, passing it to him.

He would be a guy I met in a local bar.

I can't really put my finger on it; there's just something about him. His wavy highlighted dirty blonde hair with dark roots suited him more than anyone else. He made a white sleeveless shirt and jeans look like the most fashionable combo. His beauty was classic, timeless.

When his blue eyes met mine I instantly knew - I was his.

I danced with him all night, talked a bit but mostly shared comfortable silence. It was that genuine connection, almost telephatic; I swear I knew what he was thinking.

We spent a lot of time together, especially at the beach. We both share infinite love for the ocean, waves and a slight breeze blowing, just sitting in the warm sand together.

"Penny for your thoughts?" I said to him.

"Do you think all this is just going to disappear one day, mighty ocean just swallowing us all up?"
He spoke after a moment of silence.

"Maybe."

He put his palm on mine, just laying there in warm sand, interlocking our fingers.
"But not just yet."

I gave him a little smile.

"I could sit here all day."

"Me too." I replied.

The beach was empty and so peaceful. No one but us.

His eyes, shade of grayish blue, were staring at a point far away, wondering what's hiding behind the endless horizon.

"Hey, you." I softly spoke. "Let's go swimming."

The intensity of his gaze softened as he turned to me and smirked.

He got up and gave me a hand, lifting me up.

We slowly made our way to the water, fingers interlocked.

I felt the warm but fresh water on my feet as I inhaled, closing my eyes, going deeper.
