A/N: Thank you so much for 7k🙈💕💖💗

~ ° ϟ ° ~

You and Mattheo had been friends for years, since first year.

You both had quickly found out that you had many similarities, and you got along swell. Especially because you were both Slytherins.

The more and more time you spent with the other, the closer you became. You openly picked on each other, laughed at each other, comforted each other.

You were inseparable, and would be for years to come.

He had, however, begun harbouring feelings for you after a few years. You never knew, and he hid it within himself. You always found him quite attractive, but never did anything about it.

It wasn't until fifth year that you started actually seeing him in a different light.

He had sat next to you on the ground in the outskirts of Hogwarts, overlooking the Black Lake, knowing you'd be there. You were on your back, watching the sky, and he had settled down next to you, his hands entwined on his stomach.

You had turned your head to look at you, and he did the same.

There was a specific smile on his face that you'd never seen before.

Just... everything about him, in that moment - his dark curly hair, soft dark eyes, his scars that only added to his character and attractiveness, the sharp angles of his face, the way he was looking at you...

It sparked something inside of you that exploded into a raging inferno.

That was the moment you fell for him.

Ever since that basically life-changing revelation, you felt your face heat up and you felt butterflies vigorously fluttering around your stomach every time he approached you, touched you, or even so much as glanced at you.

It sent you reeling, but you loved it.

Now, however, he seemed to notice a difference in your demeanour. He took that as a brilliant sign, and opted to tease the shit out of you when he got the chance.

He saw the signs, and he felt elated.

This continued on for a little while - not that you minded - and you both continued to be close friends that really fancied the other.

Though, the more he watched you in whatever you did during classes and the more he thought about you when he wasn't with you, the more anxious he got. The more he wanted to spill everything to you.

Sitting in the humongous Slytherin common room next to each other, studying for an upcoming quiz, he sighed for the thousandth time and dropped his quill on his book as he leaned back against the couch cushion.

You picked up on it, and finally looked over at him and away from your studies. "What's up your ass, Matt?"

He couldn't stifle the snicker at your snide comment, but his grin faded when he thought about what he wanted to say. Eventually, Mattheo spoke with a strained voice.

"I can't do it anymore."

You were momentarily confused, and then concerned.

"What do you mean?" you softly asked, leaning a bit closer and putting a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"Being just friends." He was just gonna say it, force it out before he lost his confidence. "Acting like we're only 'friends'," he sighed again, running a stressed hand through his curly hair. "I think about you all the time. I don't wanna be just friends anymore, I can't hold any of this in any further. If I did, I'd probably explode."

You huffed an amused breath through your nose, causing him to glance over at you.

His worries were nullified when he saw your small smile and the reddish flush on your face.

"I feel the same, Matt," you replied, staring at your lap. You went silent for a moment, an airy chuckle escaping as you thought about your next words. "That day... by the lake. When you laid down next to me and smiled at me, I..." You trailed off, smile widening at the memory of Mattheo's pretty face. "I fell, right there," you muttered, turning to look at the boy - seriously, this time. "I've never stopped thinking about you. Ever since that day."

You looked back down at your hands as the fingers wrung together in slight apprehension.

"Whenever you would come and speak to me, or touch me in some way, or just look at me, I would feel my heart skip a beat and I immediately knew that it was because I'd fallen for you after years of knowing you and not seeing you the way I do now." You sighed, squeezing your entwined fingers tightly. "I've never felt like this for anyone, so it's completely foreign to me..." You went silent, your heart racing.

You were surprised to see his arm come into view as he wrapped his arms around you and buried his head in the crook of your neck. Suddenly, his body was flush against yours.

He sighed. Happily, this time. "I'm so relieved," he muttered, his breath warming your skin. "You have no idea how much I've anticipated this."

You chuckled and turned your head to place a small kiss on his temple.

Little did you know, that made his heart nearly explode.

He let out a deep breath, leaning away to look at your face. He couldn't help but smile when he looked at you. "You've made me happy - so unfathomably happy - for years, and I can finally have you." He faltered. "Ri-right?" he mumbled uncertainly, "We are a thing now, right?"

You laughed, nodding. "We can be whatever you wanna be, Matty."

A wide, stupid grin adorned his face and he felt relieved yet again.

"There's something I've been wanting to do since that day," you muttered, glancing at his lips, which were still smiling.

He grinned in response, inching ever so closer.

"I think I know what that 'something' is..." he muttered cheekily, closer than he'd ever been to you in the five years you've known him.

"I'm gonna do it," you whispered, your lips a couple inches away from his.

"Do it," he replied softly.

And so, you did.
