*Lucy's POV*
Last night, when I saw Lockwood, that look he gave me, well, that we both gave each other is driving me mad. What the heck does it mean? The phone rings, snapping me out of my thoughts. I jump up to get it because I am working as a free agent now and I get a lot fewer cases.
"Ehhh hellooo? Does this thing work?' Someone says in a very, well, interesting French accent.
"Yes, sir, it does. How can I help you?"
"AaAh yesss it does work! Are you zat one ehh whats it called? Oh yes ze free agent?"
"Umm yes sir I am. Do you have a ghost problem or would you like to look into some wards?"
"I have ze ghostie problem, miss. I needs you to get it out please."
"Alright can you tell me a little about the ghost?"
"Eeeeh no. I cannot see ze ghostie."
"Okayy, well is there any history of someone dying in your house?"
"No no, not zat I know of. I must go now, but my address is uhm 35 Portland Row."
Dang it. What I thought was a real case was just Lockwood and his stupid fake accents. I sigh and reluctantly decide to go over there and give him a piece of my mind. right as I open my door, I see Kipps standing on the other side, seemingly about to knock.
"Oh Luce, Hi. I was just about to come in. Might I ask where you are headed?"
I almost said Portland Row, but stopped myself, knowing that he would probably be disappointed by me visiting because he went to all this trouble getting me this apartment and all. "Oh just to a potential case, I don't think it's going to be a real one though."
"Oh, alright. I have something to ask when you get back, but I don't want to cloud your mind before a case. Call me if you need anything."
Weird, I wonder what the question was. As I start heading back home, sorry, back to Portland Row. Everything still looks the same, but it feels so different. I wonder how they have been doing recently. The cab finally stopped, and I almost had to hold myself back from just bolting up the steps and busting through the door, announcing that I'm back for good. Instead, I slowly walk up and lightly knock on the door. Lockwood answers almost immediately.
"Oh hello! You are ze free agent to get rid of ghostie, yes? Why not have ze mini baguettes and tea? What do zey call them? Aah yes eh biscuits!
"Cut it out Lockwood. What do you need?"
Before he could speak in that stupid accent again George comes down and says
"Lucy! I've missed you, gosh I thought I'd never hear you get on to Lockwood again!"
"That's sweet, George. But why am I here?"
"We actually do have a ghost and we need a talented listener."
"Here? As in this house?"
"Yes, yes, ghostie somehow got in, very sad no?" Lockwood said.
George and I both groaned simultaneously.
"Anyways, I'll take it from here you two. Yes, Lucy, we have a ghost. None of us recognize it and it didn't die in this house. We were wondering if you have an old source in your room. Holly said.
"No, not that I know of."
"Could you please stay till it re appears? Just to make sure not that we don't believe you, Luce. George said.
"Yeah sure. What room is it appearing in?"
"Every time it has appeared in the attic where you slept Lucy." Holly replied.
"Strange..." I thought out loud.
We all went into the library, and we watched a few different movies to pass the time. It reminded me so much of how it used to be it physically hurt.
*Lockwood's POV*
I was so nervous talking to Luce that I couldn't stop doing that horrible 'French' accent. In the middle of the last movie we were going to watch, she suddenly got up with tears in her eyes and clutching her stomach. I go after her. She stopped walking in the kitchen and leaned agaisnt the wall, crying.
"Luce, what's the matter?" I worriedly said.
"I'm sorry for leaving you and Holly and George I just had to keep you safe, Lockwood I'm sorry. There are things you wouldn't begin to know about my past, I know you looked through my journal because it was misplaced when I went back up to the attic, but there's thing I didn't even write their so awful, Lockwood. "
"Lucy, listen to me, you are a wonderful, amazing person, a talented agent, and I love yo- your kind spirit. Whatever happened in the past is in the past, Luce. It doesn't define who you are right now. I'm so sorry I said those things to you without understanding the gravity of them Lucy. Every night I've stayed up regretting it. I'm also sorry that you have struggled so much in the past. It's not fair you had to go through all that without support. But you're going to be okay, alright Luce?" I said while holding her to prevent her sitting on the floor.
"Lockwood, I forgave you a little while after you said them. I want to come back, I really, really want to but I can't, at least not right now. I need to know that you guys are safe. I need to be a better agent to be able to protect you all. And it's hard because I only feel okay when I'm here with yo- you all." She said while holding on to me back.
That's when we hear a loud crash from upstairs, the ghost has appeared. Ghost fog starts flowing down the steps and then we see it.
"Dad?!" Lucy shouts
