Chapter Twenty Six

Iris’s P.O.V
It was another day and the weather was nice out and both Draco and I were hanging out outside the entire time before Harry, Ron and Hermione walked up to us, “what do you want?” Draco asked them, “don’t start.” I said to him before standing up, “what’s up?” I said to them, “we were wondering if you wanted to come to Hagrid’s with us?” Hermione asked, “yeah sure.” I said to her before looking at Draco, “I’ll see you later.” I said to him as he stood up himself, “alright, I’ll see you back at the Common Room alright.” he said and I nodded before he walked away and the four of us made our way to Hagrid’s,”why are we going to Hagrid’s? There’s usually a reason why we’re there.” I said to them, “Hagrid had his hearing today about Buckbeak. They found out about what happened when classes first started. Draco’s father was upset that Draco nearly got hurt though because of it. Although he did find out that you pushed him out of the way.” Hermione said to me, “oh. I just hope nothing bad happens to Buckbeak, I really like him.” I said to them before the four of us eventually made it to Hagrid’s before finding him standing in the lake before walking up to him, “how are you doing Hagrid?” I asked him, “I’m alright.” he said, “how did it go, Hagrid? The hearing?” Hermione asked him, “well, first off the Committee Members took turns talking about we were there. And then I got up and did my piece, said how Buckbeak was a good Hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers. Then, Lucius Malfoy got up, well you can imagine, he said Buckbeak was a deadly and dangerous creature who would kill you as soon as he looked at you.” Hagrid told us, “and then?” Hermione asked, “And then he asked for the worst, old Lucius.” Hagrid said, “they’re not sacking you?” Ron questioned, “no I’m not sacked. Buckbak’s been sentenced to death.” Hagrid said to us and I couldn’t help but feel bad for him as I thought about what happened before this happened, “are you alright Iris?” I heard Hermione ask me before I noticed everyone looking at me, “I’m fine, I just feel like it was my fault.” I said to them, “It wasn’t your fault Iris. it would have happened whether or not you had gotten in between Buckbeak and Malfoy.” Hagrid said to me and I sighed a little and we continued to talk with Hagrid for a while as we went inside the house for a while before the four of us had to leave and we eventually made it back to the Castle for the night and once I made it back to the Common Room, I noticed Draco sitting on the couch and I sat next to him, “what did you guys do at Hagrid’s?” He asked me, “talked about the hearing he had today. They sentenced Buckbeak to death.” I told him, “how do you feel about it?” He asked me, “I feel bad. Hagrid loves Buckbeak.” I said to him, “to be honest, there’s not much you can do about it if the Ministry is involved with it.” He said to me and I rested my head on his shoulder, “I wish there was something I could do.” I told him and after a while, the both of us talked about something else for a while and did our own thing together before everyone started going to bed later that night.

It was another day of classes and I was in Divination with Harry and the others and sat with Seamus and after everyone else walked into the room and sat down, Professor Trelawney began the class, “Broaden your minds. You must look beyond the art of Crystal Gazing in the clearing of the inner eye, only then can you see. Try again.” Professor Trelawney said before she walked up to Harry, Ron and Hermione and suddenly, Hermione stood up and knocked the Crystal Ball off the table before walking out of the room, “bloody hell happened to her?” I asked Harry after Professor Trelawney walked away and he just shrugged before Professor Trellawney continued with the class. Once the class was over, I walked out of the room with Harry and Ron as we talked about what had happened earlier in class, “she’s gone mental, Hermione has. I mean, not that she wasn’t always mental but now it’s out in the open for everyone to see.” Ron told us before we noticed the Crystal Ball that she had knocked over, “we better take this back” Harry said as he picked it up, “I'm not going back” Ron said to us, “fine” Harry said, “wuss.” I said to him before going with Harry back to Professor Trelawney’s class before we eventually walked into the room and Harry put it back before I noticed something, “Harry, look” I said to him as we saw Sirius’s face  as he tried to say something before someone put their hand on our shoulders causing Harry and I to jump and turn around to see that it was Professor Trelawney before she spoke up, “he will return tonight. Tonight, he who betrayed his friends whose heart rots with Murder shall break free. Innocent blood shall be spilt and servant and master shall be reunited once more.” she said before she eventually got out of the trance she was in and looked at Harry and myself after clearing her throat, “I’m so sorry dears, did you say something?” she asked us, “no.” the both of us said before the both of us rushed out of the room and once we did, I spoke up, “bloody hell, let's never go back except for classes.” I said to him, “agreed.” he said before we made it down the stairs. I eventually met up with Draco as the both of us went to our next class of the day and I spent most of my time with Draco throughout the day until classes were over and before I made it back to the Common Room, Harry came up to me, “hey, we were wondering if you want to come and see Hagrid with us again?” he asked me and I nodded, “yeah sure, he’s probably going to need all the comfort he can get.” I said to him, “alright, meet us at the front doors at 7:30 alright.” he said and I nodded before he left and I went into the Common Room with Draco and I got changed and did some homework before checking the time before leaving the Common Room and meeting Harry and the other’s.

After meeting up with Harry, Ron and Hermione, the four of us walked out of the door before noticing the Executioner sitting there as he sharpened his blade as we walked past him before crossing the bridge and once we got to the other end, we noticed Draco with Crabbe and another one of his friends were watching what was going to happen with Buckbeak from a distance before we walked up to them, “ah, come to see the show.” Draco said to us, “shove it Malfoy.” I said to him, “you, you fowl, loathsome, evil little cockroach.” Hermione said before she pointed her wand at him and I worried a little, “Hermione no, he’s not worth it.” Ron said to her and it took her a moment before she lowered her wand before suddenly punching him in the face causing me to flinch a little as he ran away with Crabbe and the other friend, “that felt good.” she said to us, “I can see that. Bloody hell Hermione.” I said to her, “not good, brilliant.” Ron said to her, “we should get to Hagrid’s.” I said to them before we continued to make our way there before we finally knocked on the door before he opened it, “why hello. Come in, come in.” he said as he let us inside before closing the door and talked with Harry and I, “oh look at him, love the smell of the trees when the wind blows through them.” he said to us, “why don’t we just set him free?” Harry suggested, “they won’t be happy about that then. They’d get Hagrid in trouble if we did.” I said to him, “she’s right, they’d know it was me and Dumbledore would get into trouble as well. He’s coming down, you know, Dumbledore. Says he wants to be with me when they- when it happens. Great man Dumbledore. Great man.” Hagrid said before he fed something to one of the Creatures he had, “we’ll stay with you to Hagrid.” Hermione said to him, “you’ll do no such thing. You think I want you seeing something like that? No. You just drink your tea and be off. Oh, before you do, Ron.” Hagrid said before he turned around and grabbed something before seeing that it was Scabbers, “Scabbers, you’re alive.” Ron said as he stood up and took Scabbers from Hagrid, “you better keep a closer eye on your pets Ron.” Hagrid said to him, “I think that you owe someone an apology.” Hermione mentioned, “right, next time I see Crookshanks, I’ll let him know.” Ron said to her, “I don’t think that’s what she meant.” I said to him, “I meant me.” Hermione said before I felt something hit the back of my head, “ow, bloody hell was that?” I questioned “Iris, are you alright?” Hagrid asked me before the same thing happened to Harry before he spoke up, “Hagrid” He said before Hagrid walked over to the window, “it’s late. It’s nearly dark. You shouldn’t be here. If someone sees you outside the Castle at this time of night you’ll be in trouble, big trouble, particularly you two, Harry and Iris.” Hagrid said before someone started knocking on the door before we made our way to the back door, “Hagrid, it’ll be fine. It’ll be ok.” Harry said to him, “come on Harry.” I said to him before the four of us made our way out of the back door and hid behind the pumpkins that Hagrid had before Hermione heard something, “what?” Harry and I asked her, “I thought I just saw- nevermind.” she said to us, “let’s go.” Ron said before we rushed off and we eventually went far enough before we stopped and all we could do was watch as the Executioner had done what he had to before Scabbers bit Ron’s finger, causing Ron to drop him, “he bit me.” Ron said to us before going after Scabbers before we went after him as we tried calling his name and at some point, there was a distance between us as we continued to go after Ron until he finally caught Scabbers before seeing the Whomping Willow, “Harry, Iris, you do realize hat tree this is.” Hermione said to us, “I think we do. If he stays there too long, he’s going to get himself hurt.” I said to them, “that’s not good. Ron run” Harry said and eventually got Ron’s attention, “Harry, Hermione, Iris run. It’s the Grim.” Ron said as he pointed and we looked behind us to see a dog, “it looks like the dog we saw the night we had gone to the Leaky Cauldron” I mentioned to Harry before he started running before jumping over us and over to Ron before he dragged Ron into the Whomping Willow and just before we could do the same, the three of us were pushed away from the hole Ron was dragged into.
